🇮🇩 L O M B O K 🇮🇩

One for the memories - our first Indonesian adventure 🇮🇩

We spent most of our time exploring the beautiful beaches along the south coast while basing ourselves in Kuta Beach. Kuta is a popular tourist hub and offers a wide variety of cuisines and nightlife. Whether you’re after a quiet, romantic dinner or a lively restaurant/bar, Kuta has something for everyone. The locals are also some of the friendliest people we’ve met - so welcoming and happy to help or give advice!

Activities
- Rent a scooter and explore the beaches 🏖️
- Rent a board and catch a wave 🏄
- Picnic on “sunset hill” Bukit Merese 🌅
- Head to Vandal for a drink to watch the skating or rent a board yourself! 🛹
- Semeti Hills for the views ⛰️
- Rock, Paper, Scissors with the local children!

Stay
- El Tropico - where we stayed - would highly recommend 5⭐️
- We’d suggest staying close to the main street so you can easily explore everything on foot.

Eat
- Kenza
- Pizza Shack
- Cantina Mexicana
- Jiang Nan
- Thai Thai
- Restaurant Codium (an incredible beach restaurant in Pantai Lacing that is famous for using the local seaweed in their meals, you also get free use of their pools)

If you’re interested in visiting Lombok or have any questions… look it up! Just kidding - drop us a comment or dm and we will be happy to give you all the details!

Mini Guide: Perhentian Islands, Malaysia

📌 SAVE this for your next trip to Malaysia!

☀️ 🌧️ When to visit:
The Perhentians have very distinct wet and dry seasons and most of the island closes during monsoon season so plan your trip carefully. The best time to visit is between March - October.

🛌 Stay:
There are two islands - Perhentian Besar (big island) and Perhentian Kecil (small island). The big island consists of more family orientated resorts, whereas small island caters more for backpackers and is more lively. We chose to stay on Perhentian Kecil and were very happy with our choice as you could walk off the beach and swim with sharks and turtles 🐢

Accommodation options
Perhentian Kecil:
⁃ Ocean Boys, Long Beach
⁃ Mimpi, Long Beach
⁃ Senja Bay Resort, Coral Bay beach
⁃ Ombak Dive Resort, Coral Bay beach
Perhentian Besar:
⁃ Tuna Bay Resort
⁃ Suhaila Palace

🍲 Eat:
Most restaurants offer very similar menus with the same quality and price. However our top picks are:
⁃ Awatif cafe - must try the seafood Bbq 🐟
⁃ Tuna bay restaurant
⁃ Chill out cafe - vegetarian

🦈 Do:
⁃ Snorkelling trip - there are loads of these on offer but make sure you get one that includes Shark Point as this was our favourite spot!
⁃ Rawa island trip
⁃ Fire show on Long Beach
⁃ Sunset at Coral Bay beach
⁃ Evening volleyball on Long Beach - a great place to meet fellow travellers!
⁃ Windmill point viewpoint ➡️ Adam and Eve beach ➡️ D’Lagoon hike

If you’re planning a trip to Malaysia anytime soon, please get in touch as we’d love to help you plan the perfect trip! 🇲🇾✈️

A long and challenging half term has finally come to an end - the constant tug of war between poor air quality and storms has been more than enough! We are so excited to travel again and ready to spend the week relaxing on the beaches of Koh Samui and Ko Pha Ngan.

In honor of the beautiful country, here are some of our favourites from our previous travels in Thailand.

See you soon Koh Samui ❤️🇹🇭

Morning hike up a hill in Scotland? Yes please ☀️🍃

If you’re ever in Roshven (or Rois-bheinn as the Scot’s would say), don’t miss this hike up the hill overlooking Loch Ailort! Situated just behind Roshven Chalets, it was an intermediate hike with no real path which was fun! Shoutout to the local horse fly population for ensuring we didn’t stop to rest for a single second on the way up. Views of the Loch 10/10 🙌

People always ask how we travel so much while working full-time as teachers.

The answer is pretty simple: we make the most of our weekends and school holidays.

Living in Malaysia has made that even easier. Within a few hours, we can be exploring islands, cities, mountains, jungles, and everything in between.

We don’t have unlimited time or money. We just choose to spend what we do have on seeing as much of the world as possible.

If you could jump on a plane this weekend, where would you go? 🌏✈️

Disclaimer: this island escape will ruin normal beach holidays for you. 🌴✨

There are beach destinations… and then there’s the Perhentian Islands — and they deserve every bit of the hype.

Our stay at BuBu Long Beach Resort genuinely felt like stepping into another world — crystal-clear water, white sand, jungle-covered islands, and the kind of atmosphere that makes you instantly slow down.

Located right on Long Beach, the resort was the perfect base for experiencing everything we loved about the Perhentians, while still feeling peaceful and special from the moment we arrived.

A huge mention to the incredible staff who went above and beyond to make this stay unforgettable.

Some of our highlights:
☀️ Sunrise walks along Long Beach
🐢 Snorkelling in water so clear it barely looked real
🍹 Complimentary sunset cocktails by the beach
🦞 Fresh seafood BBQ dinners with our feet in the sand
🌴 Hidden beaches and nearby islands just minutes away by boat
🏖️ Slow afternoons relaxing on the resort’s sunbeds overlooking the ocean

Malaysia seriously has some of the most underrated tropical escapes, and this little corner of the Perhentians might just be one of our favourites.

We came for 3 days… and honestly wanted to stay forever. 🌴

What’s the best island escape you’ve ever been to? 👀

🌴 Just a Jungle Girl at Heart 🌴

… especially when it leads to a beach 🏝️

Always a good time visiting Phuket! A couple photos from our most recent trip where we explored Rawai. We had a great time and couldn’t recommend more, obviously still very touristy but nice to see a new area!

Top Reccomends:

🏝️Beach - Nai Harn

🍽️ Eat - Nikitas

🚣‍♂️ Do - Kayak to snorkel (Yanui Beach)

🛵 Rent - Explore the beaches

What is your top recommendation from Rawai?
