Today, I choose peace.

For a long time, I let fear, pain, manipulation, and someone else’s actions define my life. But today, I am choosing something different. I am choosing to stop living as a victim and start living as a survivor.

As a reminder of everything I’ve overcome, I got the domestic violence survivor symbol tattooed on me. It isn’t just ink. it’s a PROMISE to myself. A promise that I will never allow anyone to steal my voice, my worth, or my FREEDOM again. Every time I look at it, I’ll remember not what happened to me, but how strong I was to survive it.

Healing isn’t always easy, and it isn’t always black and white. But every step forward is proof that the abuse DID. NOT. WIN. I am reclaiming my life, my peace, and my future.

If my story helps even one person realize they deserve better, then sharing it is worth it. You are stronger than you know, and you are never alone.

💜 If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, help is available. In the United States, contact the National Domestic Violence Hotline by calling 1-800-799-7233 or texting START to 88788. by @lanemccarterr
