#SelfTapeMay is a free online movement challenging actors to post 16 self-tapes in the month of May. If you’re an actor, join me over at @jonathanlangleytapes ! . And yet 7 *MORE* benefits from self-tape practice! You’ll… 15) Problem-solve scenes with punching/kissing/handshakes or any other number of impossible one-person actions. 16) Find out what props work and which ones just don’t. 17) Put your talent out into the world (even if it’s just social media only your 15 followers will see). 18) Notice — and hopefully address — your own insufferable actor tics. (I’m Blinky McGee. Nice to meet you.) 19) See the powers of stillness vs movement. 20) Improve your memorization and/or teleprompter skills. 21) Feel proud of yourself as an actor. by @langleyjonathan

Here are 7 MORE benefits you’ll get from self-tape practice! You’ll… 8) Build a community of readers and/or learn how to make an AI reader work. 9) Get quicker at editing. 10) Scrutinize your eyelines to see if they make any freaking sense. 11) Have the opportunity to develop a self-tape ritual that makes the time special. 12) Evaluate whether or not you even like doing this. 13) Practice establishing an environment. 14) Notice what characters are an easy, organic fit for you (and which ones you reeeally have to work for). by @langleyjonathan
#SelfTapeMay Without a doubt, #SelfTape practice is the **single best thing** you can do for your career as a working actor. Countless things *could* happen in this practice, but here are 7 benefits that for sure WILL happen. You’ll… 1) Read scripts. Probably a lot of scripts. 2) Practice/tweak/master your lighting and camera setup. 3) See how that shirt looks on you. 4) Notice what vibe your hairstyle is giving. 5) See if your life is built to handle the 1-2 auditions per week you say you want. 6) Try out that make up (or notice what wearing none looks like on camera). 7) Learn that “done” and “good enough” are better than “didn’t start.” #SelfTapeMay is a free online movement challenging actors to post 16 self-tapes in the month of May. This song is exceptionally special to me bc my sister @joyfuljessie321 was able to co-lead. She’s such an incredible soul, and… What a talent! . I’m also blown away (and very humbled) that #AGodLikeYou features the talents of some of the BEST EVER musicians: @garrit_tillman @alexkyhn @iamrodcastro and @victor_dutras. These guys tour and do session work FAR beyond what they get paid. . Thanks to all my BGVs who volunteered for just a meal. . Huge thank you and all my love to my incredible wife @april.lam.langley who helped make this recording a reality by doing a lot of thankless tasks. I love you, Baby! . #music #worship #worshipsong #worshipmusic by @langleyjonathan
I started writing #AGodLikeYou in a #worship and #songwriting workshop, facilitated by @imanitaalib_ . I was inspired by the men in a yearlong recovery program; worshiping alongside them was really special. . This wasn’t a song that flowed easily. I worked on it in stops and starts for well over a year. When I connected with the INCREDIBLE @jonnymaias to produce, I knew it was time to get this song recorded and out. . (Clearly, back in 2019 I was really feeling myself on a trip to NYC with a fresh haircut. 😆) . #newmusic #worshipsong by @langleyjonathan
“A God Like You” is probably the best song I’ve ever written, and I’m SO THRILLED to be able to share it with everyone. . This song is a response to the question “What makes God different? How is He unlike other gods?” There are many answers, but this song names His grace, His perfect goodness, and His holiness. . 📷: Justin Smith by @langleyjonathan
FILL IT UP is here! It’s a praise bop, a Jesus jam, a church clapper, a worship slapper. 🟢🟡🔴🔵 . Stream anywhere you listen to music! (A few links are on my profile.) . Thanks to the best of the best who helped me record this banger @jonnymaias @iamrodcastro @alexkyhn @garrit_tillman @victor_dutras and my gang vocal choir. . #fillitup #gospelfunk #newmusic #air1radio #worshipnow by @langleyjonathan
