After guiding a few short hikes on the mountains around town, this was a first for me: walking up through the fog with little visibility for most of the way. ☁️ When we reached the top, we were above the clouds, with no town in sight but an endless sky and the feeling of being on top of the world. ⛰️✨

Last year I barely went out during the summer even if nature is all around us. I thought snowmobiling is the only fun thing to do outdoors which is possible in winter only, of course. This year my perspective shifted a lot.

Ti på Topp: Fuglefjellet 🐦

I completed the 10 peaks with the Bird Mountain.
I’m proud and happy that I pushed myself to hike in Svalbard until it became an important part of my life. What started as a challenge has become something I love.

Now, it’s all about continuing. Not for the purpose of earning a medal, but simply for the movement, the mountains, and the joy they bring me. 🫶

Ti på Topp: Nordenskiöldtoppen ❄️

For most of the way up, it was either steep, slippery, loose rocks or scary narrow ridges. I knew I was not allowed to fall, otherwise you would have had to pick me up at the foot of the mountain.
The higher we went, the steeper and windier it became. Slowly, Longyearbyen disappeared in the distance, and while being constantly blown around by this strong wind, I could feel my energy fading.
But then, up on Nordenskiöldtoppen, after some minutes walking through the mist, we finally saw the cabin. What a relief.
We managed to unlock the door and the moment I stopped moving, I got cold. We fixed the chimney from the in- and outside and soon enough, we had a warm cabin, a nice dinner we had prepared in advance, and a cozy night in the provided winter sleeping bags.
And then came the morning. ☀️
I woke up to the sound of snow sliding down the roof of the cabin, and with the door not closing properly, I felt a little nervous about the possibility of a bear giving us a visit. 🐻‍❄️
The mist had completely cleared, the sun was shining, and the mountains looked completely peaceful again. We spent a few hours simply enjoying the morning before heading back towards town, which somehow felt so much easier than the climb up the day before.
My legs were hurting for the next four days but honestly, it was so worth it. 🏔️
