Founded by her father-in-law, Wendell Byrd, Readers Are Leaders pairs high school student-athletes with elementary students who need extra support and encouragement with reading.

The younger students gain confidence, skills and a role model who believes in them. The high school athletes discover the responsibility — and reward — that comes with showing up for someone else.

Janet is proud to support an organization that means so much to her family and invests in young people on both sides of the reading table.

Sorry to the pumpkin haters out there, but #endlesssummer has officially ended at our office. We’re trading the SPF for the PSLs. ☕️

Which means we’ve also entered the time of year when buying 14 pumpkins for the front porch somehow feels completely reasonable.

Tiny jack-be-littles, giant Cinderella pumpkins, the weird lumpy ones, classic orange, pretty muted heirlooms...we don’t discriminate. There is just something about piling pumpkins on the front steps that instantly makes a house feel ready for fall.

And apparently once pumpkin season starts, the more pumpkin, the better. Pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin bread, pumpkin soup...we’re in.

I keep thinking about what it takes for someone to sit down after a move and write about their experience. Moving is a lot. There are decisions, deadlines, surprises, and often an entire life transition happening alongside the sale or purchase of a home.
