Congratulations to our Executive Director, Diane Louard-Michel, on receiving the Community Service Recognition at @afrolatinjazz benefit at @citywinerynyc ! Diane’s belief that housing and culture belong together helped bring Belongó to Timbale Terrace, a new Lantern residence now under construction and the future home of Casa Belongó. 🌸 The Bloom Awards 🌸

Progress doesn't always look like a headline moment. Sometimes it looks like keeping an appointment, showing up for a wellness group, or simply choosing — again — to keep going.

Last month, residents at Amber Hall and Leeward Hall were honored at the first annual Bloom Awards, a new tradition created by Sr. Program Director Anthony Mercedes in memory of a beloved staff member who spent her career celebrating exactly this kind of growth — the quiet, steady, sometimes invisible work our residents do every day to build stable, healthier lives.

Awards like Rooted Growth, Resilient Bloom, and Flourishing Wellness recognized everything from starting new routines to years of sustained progress — because at Lantern, we believe every kind of growth deserves to be seen.

To everyone honored this year: we see you, and we're proud of you. 🌱

In memory of a woman who never stopped noticing the small, meaningful moments. by @lanterncommunity

Today Lantern Community Services is recognizing National HIV/AIDS Awareness Day.

Advances in treatment mean HIV can now be effectively managed, and transmission can be prevented. As a result, people living with HIV/AIDS are aging — more than half of people with diagnosed HIV in the U.S. are now 50 or older.

Aging with HIV/AIDS introduces complex needs: managing comorbidities, navigating a healthcare system not always built for this population, and confronting persistent stigma. Supportive housing is uniquely positioned to help meet these needs — providing stability, connection, and access to care as our residents grow older. ❤️

September is National Recovery Month. At Lantern, we see every day what's true nationwide: recovery is possible, and it looks different for everyone. Housing isn't just shelter, it's the stability that makes recovery sustainable. This month, we're honoring the courage it takes to walk that path, and the community that helps carry it. by @lanterncommunity

September is Suicide Prevention Month, and at Lantern Community Services, we know that connection saves lives. Whether someone is staying in one of our shelters or has moved into supportive housing, our teams are there for the same reason: to make sure no one is navigating a hard moment alone.

From shelter intake to move-in day and beyond, our staff build relationships that go deeper than a bed or a lease. It's the case manager who notices when someone's gone quiet. It's a warm meal, a check-in, a familiar face. It's the reminder that safety and stability can start anywhere — including in a shelter.

If you or someone you know is struggling, help is available 24/7: call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

This month, we're recommitting to the everyday work of showing up for each other, at every stage of someone's journey with us.

Twenty-five years ago today, our city changed forever. Every person on our team, and every neighbor we serve, carries some connection to that morning — a memory, a story passed down, a skyline that still looks different to those who remember before.🗽

At Lantern, we spend every day working toward something September 11th also taught us: that New Yorkers show up for each other. In the hardest moments, this city becomes neighbors carrying neighbors — and that's the same spirit that guides our shelter and supportive housing programs.

Today we remember. Tomorrow, like every day, we keep showing up for each other. 💪

We honor all those we lost that day, those we lost since that day, and everyone still healing. 💙 by @lanterncommunity

This Labor Day, we’re reflecting on the wise words of Dolly Parton:

"Don't get so busy making a living that you forget to make a life."

And to our residents, staff, and neighbors working today — thank you.

Whatever your Labor Day looks like this year, we hope you find a little bit of life in it. 🦋 by @lanterncommunity

Today is International Overdose Awareness Day — a day to remember those we've lost and stand with those still struggling.

At Lantern, we know stable housing saves lives. It's the foundation for care, trust, and connection.

One thing everyone can do: learn to recognize the signs of an overdose and know how to use naloxone (Narcan). Free training and kits are available through NYC Health + Hospitals and local pharmacies.

Together, we can end overdose. 💜 by @lanterncommunity

That's a wrap on Supportive Housing Week! 💙

Thank you for following along this week as we shared why supportive housing changes lives.

In our 2026 fiscal year, 97% of our residents maintained their housing or exited to permanent housing — a powerful reminder of what's possible when people have the right supports in place.

But most of all, thank you for listening to our residents' voices. Their stories are the reason this work matters, and the reason we do it every day.

Supportive housing isn't just a roof overhead — it's stability, dignity, and community, all in one place. We're grateful to build that alongside our residents, and grateful you're part of the journey with us.

Here's to another year of doing this work together. 🏡

Eva spent three years in a shelter before coming to Lindenguild.

A social worker there encouraged her to take a look at the building and it turned into more than a place to sleep.

These days, she keeps it simple: adult day care, time on social media, Ask her what's stood out most, and she'll tell you straight her case manager has been a big support, along with staff overall.

Her take: supportive housing helps you out with a steady place to live.
