If there is a contender for the most twisted Lantern in my collection, it’s Kryb. Introduced during the Blackest Night era, Kryb was a member of the Sinestro Corps who fed on fear in a way even her fellow yellow lanterns found disturbing. She traveled the universe searching for the children of Green Lanterns, kidnapping them and imprisoning them in cages she carried on her back. Her warped goal was to raise them herself and build a new generation of Sinestro Corps members. What makes Kryb so memorable is that she wasn’t driven by conquest, revenge, or power. She genuinely believed she was helping these children, making her actions even more unsettling. In a universe filled with killers, tyrants, and monsters, Kryb stood out because of how disturbingly convinced she was that she was doing the right thing. In The Adventures of Superman No. 618, the Mxy Twins pulled off one of the most dangerous pranks imaginable—they turned off Earth’s gravity. The planet began to tear itself apart, as the Earth’s crust began to crumble and the oceans raged out of control. Acting fast, John Stewart and Alan Scott combined their powers to create a massive energy shell around the Earth, using every last ounce of their will to hold the planet together by its seams. Meanwhile, Superman flew deep into the Earth’s core and reestablished the planet’s gravity, bringing the catastrophe to an end and foiling the Mxy Twins’ plan. As he was held in place, Sinestro severed Kyle’s ring finger, separating him from his Green Lantern ring and leaving him powerless. At Sinestro’s command, four members of the Sinestro Corps each held one of Kyle’s limbs and pulled using the power of their rings. As the Green Lantern of Sector 586, Medphyll recognized that brute force would only kill the innocent people trapped inside. Instead, he used his ring to create a mesmerizing pattern of light that pacified the creature while he carefully separated every individual citizen from the mass, saving his entire world without costing a single life. After realizing Swamp Thing had never intended to harm anyone, Medphyll offered him the body of his deceased mentor, Jothra, and taught him how to alter his bio-frequency so he could finally return to Earth. In the background of Batman/Deadpool No. 1, the Guardians of the Universe and the Guardians of the Galaxy agreed to a cultural exchange. Rocket Raccoon borrowed Hal Jordan’s Green Lantern Ring, while Hal Jordan joined the Guardians of the Galaxy. Rocket immediately proved why he was the worst possible choice. He used his new power ring to kill Sinestro, then pawned the ring to fund a gambling spree, and robbed the casino to get it back. Later, when the Guardians of the Universe called looking to trade back, Nova answered and casually remarked that Hal had “given in to his attraction to cosmic hand jewelry.” Hal had once again embraced Parallax, defeated both Thanos and the Guardians of the Galaxy and stolen the Infinity Gauntlet, proudly wearing it on his hand and declaring “Beware My Power”. #lanterns #greenlantern #dccomics #marvel #guardiansofthegalaxy by @lanternlair
