It's not a plyo problem. It's a user problem. 🔨

There are two parties when it comes to plyos. One group loves them, and the other hates them.

Let's break down the purpose of each type.

What do different weights do? ⚖️
- Heavier plyos are used early in the drill progression because they keep arm speeds down
- Lighter plyos create more stress due to higher arm speeds

Heavier plyos for patterning 🪨
- Commonly used during constraint drills
- Gives the athlete more awareness of where the arm is in space

Lighter plyos improve arm patterning 🪶
- Speeds up the patterns hammered in with heavy plyos
- Less thinking and more moving as quickly as possible

Be sure to check out the full plyo video on YouTube. 🎥

Reminder: Drills only work when properly prescribed and implemented.

Ethan Muniz - remote athletes. He came in-house for two weeks and our focus was simple: improve output and add velocity.

At 5’9”, he has to move fast to make up for shorter levers, so sequencing matters a lot for him. We got him into our mocap lab to measure things you can’t see with the naked eye — ground reaction force off the back leg, how much transfers to the lead leg at foot strike, and how much of that energy actually makes it up the chain to the arm. That data is guiding his remote programming going forward.

Now averaging 91, touching 92, with good carry. He already had a strong arsenal — plus changeup, cutter/gyro slider, big sweeper — so this was about adding force output underneath what he already throws.

JUCO All-Star who’s bought in and trusted the process. Now it’s about building a bigger engine so he can keep competing at that level and further his career to bigger things. taken in Tread Athletics by @lanti_____

"Because it's the best way for the body to generate force." 📝

John Lantigua breaks down how athletic throws and drills can promote throwing with the plane of rotation.

This piece is so important because it allows you to throw harder and throw more strikes. 🎯

"We call that one the money maker." 💰

At 80 mph with -15.1" IVB and -10.9" HB, Dylan Mulcahy's curveball grades out well above average on Stuff+ models, making it the best pitch in his arsenal. He's also dialing in the slider, making sure to keep it compact so the two don't blend.

Dylan signed up in the spring of 2025, and after a year of training, he struck out 63 hitters across 51.2 innings at Stephen F. Austin this spring and earned himself an opportunity at Miami. 🌀 by @lanti_____

The plane of rotation isn't just a pitching concept. 🔄

Every sport that involves throwing, swinging, or simply launching an object follows the same principle. 📈

Disc Throwers 🥏
- Arm extended, spin as hard as possible, hit the block, launch
- The arm unravels in a straight line

Javelin 🎯
- Land, unravel out, maximize distance
- The angle is set by posture, not by the arm

Frisbee 🌀
- Create a ton of counter-rotation with the trunk
- But the plane where the arm unravels stays in a straight line

Hitting ⚾️
- Hitters who keep their shoulders in the same plane as the bat see bat speed peak in the window of contact
- The ability to adjust posture to different pitch heights while staying in plane is what separates the best hitters

This is not a pitching rule. It's physics. 👨‍🔬

Another D2 to D1 arm out of the Transfer Portal Showcase! 📈

Congrats to Carter Gschwind on committing to Long Island University out of the Transfer Portal Showcase!

The righty bounced back from just one appearance in 2025 to 9 appearances with an 11.4 K/9 at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical (D2) this spring. 📈

At the showcase, he paired a fastball averaging 21.1" IVB with a curveball averaging -18.1" IVB at 78.3 mph. Now he's off to LIU to pitch at the D1 level! 💪
