Here I’m chasing @redspec_328 in his E36 328i. This was one of the best fun I’ve had in this track in a long while. He’s the faster driver, in a faster proper track car. It’s like that “ghost” lap in Forza game you try to follow and beat. This is the physical version of that. Since my car was still relatively stock at this time. And his setup is GOALZ! He let me by due to issue with his clutch ending his day early. I hope to have another lead/follow with him soon now that I have a track spec coilover. 🏁

Good things some times do come to an end. After owning the car for the last 3.5 years building it up to where it is now, has been a pleasure with this 98 E36M. It has been reliable, fun to drive, can be fast depending how I feel out on the track, conditions, etc. haha!

But ‘life priorities’ happen. So it is time to give it up for the next owner who will continue to pursue its existence as an amazing track car and set new PB’s!

I’m taking hiatus for couple of years. But I will be around (maybe rent a track car) for whenever I have an itch. by @lapcraft_36

Nothing spectacular today. But the newly paved Thunderhill East is glass-smooth. I find that it has better flow too. Needs more rubber to bed in the track surface for better grip. I was really trying to keep up with you @farkle_tech haha! Fun day with you and @seans54 at track day today. I hope to resolve this cooling issue so I can do it again (uninterrupted) with you fellas. For now, I'll take this win with a new Sonoma Raceway (fastest-ever) PB! 🏁

I’m getting comfortable driving around the Sonoma Raceway (my weakest track). I always seem to tap out around 2:00-1:57, no matter the car. With the recent significant hardware changes on the E36M3, I’m now able to drive the car a bit quicker.

I PB’d in session 1, but the car and I did a firm “handshake” and went to get to know each other in the 3rd session, improving my lap time by -3.44 seconds from the first time I took the car here.

My fastest Sonoma PB to date - 1:55.18. I’m stoked! It was a great track day!

Like any other car/track rats, these are parts I have my eye on (for years) for my weekend/track cars. Finally made the jump with these Big changes to the E36 M3 with the @motioncontrolsuspension 1WNR (700/800 Hyperco spring rates) and the @essex_apracing Radi-Cal CP9660/355mm BBK.

The goal for the car is to be dual-purpose—a weekend car in relative comfort and a kickass track car (at least for now). With these hardware changes, it should be ready if it ever becomes a fully dedicated track car. Until then, I will enjoy the car for as long as ‘forever’. It’s “perfect” as it is.

I can’t wait for the upcoming track days.

First Laguna Seca event with the E36 M3/4/5. The difference between the ZD8 BRZ is that it is so nimble and much more willing to rotate. My M3 has weight and takes a little more patience for it to rotate. I’m still relearning this car. Nonetheless, the car did great all day! Not the PB on this track but I’ll take this PB of the Day run. BTW, it’s crazy how this track has become a “rich man’s racetrack”.

The E36 M3 performed very well this time around. No mechanical issues from the first track day in January. I’m able to focus on learning the car on the track and finding a consistent rhythm.

I set a personal best in the ZD8 BRZ, running 1’57; off pace by 1 second. The M3 definitely has more time in it, but I’m close. I just need to get more comfortable with the car at the limit everywhere on Sonoma Raceway (I have few corners with mental blockers).

It was a beautiful weekend. And it was a better track day!

First track day with the M3. I was still “hand shaking” with the car, but was plagued with misfire issues at the end of the 1st session. The day didn’t go as planned but I’ll get this sorted. The M3 will be “bulletproofed” for the next track day event.

I used to have my E36 M3 coupe. It’s the car I sold that I regret the most in the last 5 years. I’m grateful to have purchased this M3/4/5 in Estoril Blue. For a 27-year-old car, it is well-kept. It does need some TLC. I will restore a few things in the interior and exterior. Still, this M3 will be a weekend/track car (not a restoration project). It’s a keeper. I plan to hold and enjoy this M3 for a very long time. An S54 swap is the long-term goal.

The BRZ was fun. Nimble. Sharp. It challenges and teaches me as a driver to drive it fast. But there’s something about the E36 that gets me. The 3.91 LSD makes things very engaging. I missed the induction noise of the S52B32. I do need a track day shake-down with the M3.

It was my first time driving the newest Buttonwillow racetrack, The Circuit. Thanks for the invite @nholmes74 (my coach)! Fun track. It kept me on my toes and tested my discipline not to turn in early on reaching apexes. I need seat time to fully appreciate this track. It’s excellent to drive something new. Grateful for the awesome track day with friends on the racetrack. I learned the track well enough to maintain a consistent pace of 2:09-2:08.
