My EP “Brutal Joy” is out today!! I wrote and recorded it in the strange arc surrounding the pandemic - in the backs of tour vans huddled with bandmates and friends beforehand, in the height of the isolation of quarantine and wildfires in LA, and then slowly emerging outwards - with the through line of joy and the ways I fought to create and protect it. The EP also celebrates the bold and terrifying leap of knowing when to leave your home and comfort zones to reach for something greater, and pursuing love despite the crushing weight of the patriarchy and the ways it tries to shrink women from our full potential.

I truly believe that when you make a record with people you love you can hear it in the music. I’m so endlessly grateful to these brilliant friends who brought these songs to life beyond my wildest dreams ❤️

I hope this collection of songs lifts your spirits. I hope you blast it loud on a night drive or scream-sing it with your best friends in the car. I hope you share it with whoever needs to hear it.

Thank you for listening ❤️ by @lapelsings
