From one of those days when you wake up way before the alarm goes off at 5 a.m. because you just can‘t wait for the day to start.
Meeting sperm whales in the open ocean on their terms while freediving is an incredible privilege. They are huge like a bus, a predator that hunts up to 3.000 meters in the deep. A place we almost know nothing about. They have a very complex culture and are extremely intelligent. Learning from our whale whisperer guide that they can actually sense our intentions and our energy, so you need to set it right before entering the water to be welcomed to their pod.

Salt lakes, acid springs, blistering heat at 45 degrees celsius - this extremely remote Afar region of Ethiopia felt hostile towards any living creature 😅 Traveling was very rough, just have a look at my bed for three nights in the last picture 😂

While many societies ask women to cover their faces, in Tuareg tradition it's the men who are wearing a veil, not the women. It shields them from the desert sun, evil spirits and defines their adulthood. It is worn as a sign of respect in front of strangers, carefully covering the mouth -
dressed in the colours of the Sahara 🔷🏜️

The fluke of a humpback whale is massive and can span up to 5 meters! While they were playing around, rolling over to the side and then flipping the fluke I felt the enormous mass of water that got moved with it - carefully making sure I'm distancing myself far away enough 😅

From the highest dunes to cosiest campfires - in a place so remote you won't meet anyone else for the whole week. Where you plan your days around sunrises and sunsets. Where you take your time to watch the sand move, feel the sun on your skin and listen to the silence. Where you understand how much peace it can bring you to travel slowly.
