BLESSED ✨ Feb 2023 - the balancing act of juggling work & motherhood - building our humble dream office @juladesigns a year and a half ago when Hart had just started to learn to walk - a poignant, timely reminder of taking it one step at a time & to stand strong in times of unease… I have such a revered, deep found respect for the mothers & women of our world & mama Bali for her culture that remains with an unwavering resilience in the face of adversity.

Looking back on moments & being truly grateful for having a roof over our heads, food on the table & love in our hearts - hoping the world (& we!) continue to fight for peace in every sense of the word… it all begins with you & yours 🦋 by @laraflax

I wanted to post this last year on her first birthday but never got around to it…

04.02.23 - Hart’s 1st Bday 🤍

Along with celebrations & gifts, we begun the tradition of writing a letter to Hart each year on her birthday - almost like a journal entry, something she can look back on in the years to come…

Part of her 1st birthday letter reads:

“Now to you at 1 my dear - have no doubt, you are the biggest joy and accomplishment of our lives. You are fierce, hilarious, determined, wild, clever, a fast learner and loved by so many. Inherently stubborn, it is your way or the high way, your first steps were taken a week after your 1st birthday, you don’t take to everyone & you choose your friends carefully, loud noises & busy places aren’t exactly where you thrive (to be honest mummy & daddy don’t either!) but nature & the comfort of being around those you love, does. You like food but you’re selective, you love to dance & sing & play games… you love the water & you’re pretty fearless… you have recently started sleeping through the night (didn’t last long though!) & you still love the booby a lot.
Your bond & connection to your grandparents in Bali & America is so sweet & special - I hope you remember all the love they poured into you, grandparents are to be treasured - they bring sage wisdom & of course spoil you with gifts at every given opportunity as well as sneak all your favourite treats - cherish the times as they are fleeting. You look like mummy but have a fire in your belly like daddy. You are our Hartley. Our Hart. And despite the “looks like you” & “acts like him”, you are unapologetically… Hartley. A soul cast among 8 billion - that landed in our laps by no mysterious measure but to walk this journey together. To teach the lessons & blessings & heartaches & losses to one another but for now… my girl, you are 1. The world is a big place & we promise to protect you from everything we can & to let you be a child in all your beautiful glory…”

Life really can be a rollercoaster ride…
One day you can feel like everything is completely in flow, as it should be and then the next you can feel like a salmon swimming up stream 😅
Here’s to celebrating the moments that are aligned with the universe with the stars shining bright but also recognizing that without darkness there is no light… been wanting to share more on these little squares of memorable times that fill my heart with joy & those that humble me to know the difference between the two ✨

Feeling all the feels reminiscing on our due date this time last year ~ 2.2.22 ~

I was eating dates like they were going out of season, was twerking in our living room, side-stepping my way around the streets, adding chilli to everything, doing acupuncture, drinking castor oil… you name it, we tried it.

Excited, anxious, nervous & ultimately quite naive on the journey ahead. I think I can now say I understand the concept of life Before Children (BC) and life After Children (AC) & why everyone was saying to savour those last moments of sleep 😂 it truly does have to be lived to be known!

The most “ordinarily extraordinary” thing human kind does. The biggest change of seasons in life so far — from mother to maiden, pregnant to post partum, woman to mother, me to us, us to 3. Some days I don’t remember who I was before the shift, other days I miss the woman I was before so much.

A constant push & pull, juggling act & a humble, every day reminder of the “Dua-lity” of life. One, I wouldn’t change for the world.

Hartley “Dua” — our greatest teacher, biggest blessing, constant mirror & a living, breathing showcase of life’s polarities in each & every moment — up & down, black & white, yin & yang 🤍🖤

She was getting ready to grace us with her presence & wow… she has been the most beautiful gift of all 🙏🏻

1 year ago today, at 5 months pregnant, we eloped to say I Do.

1 year later, with our 7 month old, we’re celebrating life & love in a whole new way.

Happy anniversary my love @hampositive. 10 years together — growing, learning & fumbling along the way. Thank-you for it all! Can’t wait to see what the next chapter brings 🤍 taken in Balboa Park, San Diego by @laraflax
