“Here is our Lost on You story — Birgit & Lara. ❤️

About ten years ago, I, Birgit, saw LP for the very first time on German television, in the daily soap “Gute Zeiten, schlechte Zeiten” ( good times, bad times) I was instantly fascinated — by LP, the music, the voice, the whole person behind it.
I started following LP and her music, and somehow, just because I wanted to stay connected to the artist and the music, I even downloaded Instagram — something I had never really been “big on” before. 😄

And that’s where my inner fangirl slowly grew bigger and bigger. Along the way, I started talking to other LP fans on Instagram… and one day, I started talking to Lara.

I was living in Germany. Lara was living in South Africa. We were thousands of kilometres apart, and at first, all we had were written words.

But somehow, through those words, something happened. We fell in love. ❤️
Long story short: I travelled to South Africa to meet Lara, she came to Germany to visit me, and eventually we decided that we wanted to spend our together.

We got married, and Lara has now been living with me in Germany for seven years.

So yes... this is our Lost on You story. A story that quite literally changed both of our lives.

Thank you, LP, for everything. For the positive spirit you share, your kindness, for your art, your music, your incredible energy — and for all those things that are almost impossible to put into words.

You never know where a song, an artist, or a simple Instagram post might take you.

For us, it led to love, marriage, and a whole new life together.

❤️ For my Dad — forever in my heart. ❤️

Today was one of the saddest, yet most beautiful days I have experienced. I had a very special tattoo done in memory of my Dad, and there is so much love and meaning behind it. 🕊️❤️

The tattoo is of a racing pigeon, because pigeons were such an incredibly important part of Dad’s life. From a very young age, he raised and raced them, and it brought him some of the greatest happiness he ever experienced. Racing pigeons wasn’t simply a hobby for Dad — it was his life, his passion and a part of who he was. 🕊️

If you look closely at the pigeon, you’ll see a little ring around its leg. On that ring is Dad’s date of birth, making it a little piece of him that I will carry with me forever. ❤️

Dad was also a very proud Liverpool supporter, which is why I chose to have “You’ll Never Walk Alone” across the banner. But those words mean so much more to me than football.

When Dad became very, very ill, those were words that we shared with each other. We always believed that he and I would never walk alone, because no matter what happened, we would always be together. ❤️

I miss my Dad more and more and more than anybody could ever imagine. I miss him terribly. There are moments when I would give anything just to have him beside me again, to hear his voice, to talk to him, and simply to have my Dad back. 💔

But I know that he is still with me.

Every time I see a pigeon flying through the sky, or even one walking beside me, I think of Dad. I like to believe that, in those little moments, his soul is walking beside me and reminding me that he is never really gone. And somehow, that brings me so much happiness. 🕊️❤️

I am endlessly grateful that I was blessed to have him as my father. I will carry his love, his memories and everything he taught me for the rest of my life.

I will never walk alone. And Dad will never walk alone.

Because wherever I go, a little piece of him goes with me.

Standing Together ❤️🏳️‍⚧️

As part of the LGBTQ+🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ community, I believe we need to stand together, especially when one part of our family is facing discrimination.

Transgender people are our family, our friends, our community. Above all, they are human — just like all of us.❤️

We are who we are, and everyone deserves to live with dignity, respect, equality and love.

Even though I couldn’t see you on my birthday, being able to have lunch with you today meant so much to me. More than the beautiful gifts, I’m grateful for you. Thank you for being such an amazing friend and for always being there for me, no matter what life brings.

Yesterday was one of the most emotional birthdays of my life.

It is the first birthday without my dad.💔 Although we lived on different continents, with him in South Africa and me here in Germany, he was always the very first person to phone me every birthday morning to wish me a happy birthday. Today, the silence where his voice should have been has been incredibly difficult to bear. I miss him more than words can ever express.❤️

I also find myself thinking of my beautiful mom, who left us in 2009. There isn't a single birthday that passes without me wishing I could hug her one more time. If it weren't for my wonderful parents, I wouldn't be here celebrating another year of life. They gave me the greatest gift anyone can receive—the gift of life, unconditional love, and countless precious memories. I will be forever grateful to them. They were the most loving parents anyone could ever wish for, and I carry their love with me every single day.❤️

This birthday has also been especially bittersweet because it is the first one without my dear mother-in-law, Mia. Since moving to Germany, we always celebrated my birthday together with a special lunch. Her absence has been deeply felt today, and she has been in our thoughts throughout.

Even with the sadness in my heart, today has also reminded me of how incredibly blessed I am.❤️

To my beautiful wife, Birgit—thank you from the bottom of my heart. You always go above and beyond to make my birthdays so special, filling them with so much love, kindness, and thoughtfulness. Your love has carried me through one of the hardest birthdays I've ever faced, and I am so grateful to walk through life with you by my side. I love you more than words can say.❤️

To my family and my wonderful friends, thank you for every birthday message, every phone call, every kind word, and every prayer. Your love, support, and friendship have lifted my spirits today more than you will ever know. You reminded me that although I have lost some of the people I love most, I am still surrounded by so many caring hearts.❤️

Not a day goes by that we don't think of you or miss you. Today would have been your birthday, and although we can't celebrate it with you in person, we celebrate the incredible father you were and always will be in our hearts.❤️
Thank you for being the best dad we could ever have asked for. Thank you for your unconditional love, your guidance, your strength, and for always believing in us. The lessons you taught us and the love you gave us have stayed with us every day of our lives . We are so grateful to have been your daughter's.❤️🤗
We miss your smile, your laughter, your wisdom, and simply having you here. There will always be a space in our hearts that only you can fill, and we will carry you with us for the rest of my lives.

With the heaviest of hearts, we want to let everyone know that our beautiful Mom passed away peacefully on Friday morning. 💔😭
To me, she was never "just" my mother-in-law—she was my Mom. From the very first day we met, she opened her heart to me and loved me as if I were her own daughter. She welcomed me into her family with so much warmth, kindness, and unconditional love, and I will be forever thankful for the incredible bond we shared.
Our hearts are broken, and the emptiness she leaves behind can never be filled. Mom was the heart of our family. She filled our lives with love, laughter, gentle wisdom, and so many beautiful memories that we will treasure forever. We feel incredibly blessed to have shared so many wonderful years with her, and every single moment we spent together is a gift we will always hold close.
Thank you, Mom, for loving us so completely, for always being there, and for making us feel so deeply loved. We miss you more than words could ever express, but we find comfort in believing that you are now reunited with Dad. We like to think that perhaps my own Mom and Dad are there too, and that together you are all watching over us with love.
Until we meet again, Mom, we will carry you with us every day—in our hearts, in our memories, and in everything you taught us. You will never be forgotten. You will always be loved, forever missed, and forever a part of us.

Even though we lost today against Canada, our hearts are still full of pride. ❤️Bafana Bafana gave everything on the field and represented South Africa with determination and spirit on the world stage. Results come and go, but our pride in our team and our country never fades. We stand behind them always—today, tomorrow, and every time they wear the green and gold.
