At last! I’m thrilled to announce that my short film “Hands” is officially out now. The YouTube and Letterboxd links are in my bio. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: this project is a labor of love and would not have been possible without the hard work of the cast and crew.

And just like that, our time in South Carolina has come to an end.

While we still have more filming ahead of us in Chicago, this chapter of production has officially wrapped. It’s difficult to capture what these past few days have meant to us. Being in Maddie’s hometown, meeting those who shaped her life, and connecting with the people who make the South so special has been nothing short of extraordinary.

There’s still a lot more to share, but for now, we just wanted to say thank you. Whether you’ve supported the project directly or simply followed along and rooted for us, it’s meant a lot to have you with us on this ride.

Early on in our friendship, I decided that Autumn would be in my life forever. They’ve been a constant in my life ever since the day we met, and in many ways, they still are. Anyone who knew them knew how undeniably kind, genuine, and creative they were. They had a way of making people feel seen and understood. Their absence is still something I’m struggling to make sense of, and more often than not, it still doesn’t feel real. So much of who I am is shaped by them, and it’s impossible not to be reminded of them everywhere I look. I miss them so much I don’t know what to do with it. Over the past year, it’s been a privilege to witness all the lives they touched and the love their friends and family proudly carry for them. Having a friend like Autumn was a gift, and getting to keep them in my heart feels like one too. I’ll keep bringing them up every chance I get. I’ll always see pieces of them wherever I look. I’ll always keep them in my pocket. by @larahacios
