"A mother's reckoning, living in the aftermath of tragedy" by Sue Klebold

This book is different from what I usually read, not just because it is a nonfiction book, but also because it is a true crime book.
It was a hard read given the reason why this book even exists, but it was interesting to read everything from the perspective of someone who not only lost a loved one due to suicide, but who also had to deal with the fact that her child died a killer.
I've learned new things about brain health and how to notice that people might be struggling.
I feel sorry for everything she had to go through and it is admirable how she's advocating to prevent suicide.

"On April 20, 1999, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold walked into Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado. Over the course of minutes, they would kill twelve students and a teacher and wound twenty-four others before taking their own lives.

Ever since, Sue Klebold, Dylan’s mother, has lived with the indescribable grief and shame of that day. How could her child, the promising young man she had loved and raised, be responsible for such horror? And how, as his mother, had she not known something was wrong? In the hope that the insights and understanding she has gained may help other families recognize when a child is in distress, she tells her story in full, drawing upon her personal journals, the videos and writings that Dylan left behind, and on countless interviews with mental health experts." by @larasbookmark

Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid.

Taylor Jenkins Reid is one of my "if she wrote it, I'll read it" authors. I really enjoy her writing style, the world building and that her characters have a lot of personality.
I loved the close relationship of the siblings.
One thing I also liked about this book were the two different timelines.
Malibu Rising is one of those summer books that are perfect for vacation, or to get you out of a winter blouse.

"Four famous siblings throw an epic party to celebrate the end of the summer. But over the course of twenty-four hours, their lives will change forever." by @larasbookmark

Not quite dead yet by Holly Jackson

Starting this off by saying that Holly Jackson is definitely one of my favorite authors.
It took me longer to finish this book than her other ones and it was my least favorite of hers, but that doesn't mean it was bad at all.
I didn't find the main character as interesting as some of her others, but I still enjoyed the plot and think the plot twists were good.
It was an interesting story line.

"In seven days, Jet Mason will be dead.
Jet has always been restless, never quite finishing anything. Later, she tells herself. She’s got time.
Until one night, she is violently attacked.
Doctors tell her she’s received a catastrophic brain injury. Inside a week, she’ll be dead.
Suddenly, Jet has run out of time – and this is her last chance to see something through.
With her condition deteriorating, and her childhood friend Billy the only one in her small town she trusts, Jet starts to ask questions. Someone tried to kill her. Someone that she knew.
Jet Mason has just seven days to solve her own murder." by @larasbookmark

Tender is the flesh by Augustina Bazterrica

It has been quite a while since I've read this book, but from what I remember, it left me really disturbed.
Of course this was something to be expected when reading a book with a topic like that but it wasn't the topic itself, but the choices of the main character and especially the end, which was really unsatisfying to me.
I can't say I really enjoyed this book, I disliked almost every character and I also don't feel the need to ever read it again, but it made me feel something and I guess that counts.

"Working at the local processing plant, Marcos is in the business of slaughtering humans—though no one calls them that anymore.

His wife has left him, his father is sinking into dementia, and Marcos tries not to think too hard about how he makes a living. After all, it happened so quickly. First, it was reported that an infectious virus has made all animal meat poisonous to humans. Then governments initiated the “Transition.” Now, eating human meat—“special meat”—is legal. Marcos tries to stick to numbers, consignments, processing.

Then one day he’s given a gift: a live specimen of the finest quality. Though he’s aware that any form of personal contact is forbidden on pain of death, little by little he starts to treat her like a human being. And soon, he becomes tortured by what has been lost—and what might still be saved." by @larasbookmark
