There’s a strange thing that happens when we consider doing something new.

We look at everything we don’t know yet and somehow forget everything we already know.

Years of working, raising families, managing people, solving problems, making decisions, changing plans, getting things wrong and figuring them out anyway.

None of that disappears because you decide to do something different.

You may need new skills. You may be a beginner again. You may even feel completely out of your element for a while.

But starting something new and starting from nothing are two very different things.

You’ve already spent a lifetime becoming someone who knows how to figure things out.

Maybe give yourself a little more credit for that. by @larissa_rebuilt

I think we spend a lot of time trying to figure out what we should do next.

Sometimes before we’ve even decided what we actually want.

I did that too.

Once I got clearer about what I wanted my life to look like, it became a lot easier to recognize what fit, and what didn’t.

The answer will look different for everyone.

You don’t have to know exactly what you want to do next.

Sometimes it’s easier to start with what you want your life to look like, then work backwards from there.

More flexibility.
Additional income.
More opportunity to travel.
Something of your own.
Maybe all of the above.

That’s what makes this worth a conversation.

I’ve been getting some really good questions lately about starting a travel business.

And I get it. Starting something new brings up a lot of questions, especially when you’ve already got a life full of responsibilities.

Do you need experience? How much time does it take? Can you actually earn money doing this? And what about the travel benefits?

Those are all fair questions. And they’re worth getting real answers to.

But here’s the question I think matters even more.

What would you actually want a business of your own to do for YOU?

Maybe it’s extra income without taking on another traditional job. Maybe it’s more flexibility, the ability to work from different places, or simply building something that’s yours.

Your answer doesn’t have to look anything like mine.

That’s the beauty of having options. You get to decide what you’re working toward.

Of course, you still have to do the work. That part isn’t optional.

Please join me in welcoming Heather!

Heather loves to travel, but what really caught her attention was the opportunity to help fund more of her own adventures while building something at her own pace.

And I especially love that she’s thinking beyond travel. She’s also looking at how this business could help her simplify things and have more time and resources for her ministry.

That’s one of the things I appreciate about this business. We don’t all join for the same reasons, and we don’t all have the same goals.

Heather, I’m so happy you’ve decided to join us! I can’t wait to see where this new adventure takes you. 💙

For a long time, I thought figuring out what you were meant to do was something you were supposed to get right.

Find your thing. Build your life around it. Stick with it.

But I don’t think life works quite that neatly.

Sometimes what fit you perfectly at 30 doesn’t fit at 50. Not because you failed at it. Not because you chose wrong.

You changed.

Your priorities changed. Your circumstances changed. Maybe you learned things about yourself you couldn’t have known twenty years ago.

I’ve had several chapters in my own life that made complete sense while I was living them. And then one day, they didn’t anymore.

I used to think that meant I needed to figure out what had gone wrong.

Now I think sometimes nothing went wrong.

Maybe something can have been exactly right for you then, and still be finished now.

And maybe the question isn’t “What’s my purpose?”

Maybe it’s simply:

One of the things I never expected when I started my own travel business was the friendships that would come with it.

Ellie and I met online months ago, live about 10 hours apart, and have chatted almost every day since.

Today, we finally got to meet in person. ❤️

Turns out, you can talk to someone for months and still underestimate that you’ve honestly found a friend.

And apparently, we’re the same kind of weirdo 😂 which I love.

The business brought us together. The rest is a bonus. by @larissa_rebuilt

One of the things I love about this business is meeting people who see the possibilities in it, not just for themselves, but for the people they can help along the way.

Pam loves to travel, wants to help others create wonderful memories, and is excited about helping people who want to build something of their own.

I spent years building a business that depended on us showing up to do the work.

If we weren’t working, the work wasn’t getting done.

And there’s nothing wrong with that. That business has supported us, taught us a ridiculous amount and, on some days, apparently given us a perfectly legitimate reason to spend an hour in the tool aisle at Lowe’s. 😂

But it also taught me to look at business differently.

These days, I’m much more interested in what a business requires from my life, not just what it can earn.

Can I do it from wherever I happen to be?

Can I keep building it when we travel?

Does every dollar depend on another hour of my time?

Can it eventually become bigger than what I can personally do in a day?

Those weren’t questions I used to ask.

They are now.

I’m not trying to erase what we built before.

I’m taking what it taught me and building differently this time. by @larissa_rebuilt

Marriage is mostly supporting each other’s interests.

And occasionally standing in the tool aisle wondering how 47 versions of basically the same thing are all somehow “different.”

Meanwhile, I’m over here feeling excessive because I own three kinds of moisturizer. 😂

Please tell me I’m not the only one married to someone with a collection that has gotten slightly out of hand.

She loves travelling, discovering new places, and helping others plan memorable experiences.

But what really caught my attention was her desire to build something of her own, with more flexibility and freedom over her time.

That’s one of my favourite things about this business. We all come into it with different experiences and goals, but we’re building something that matters to each of us.

I’m firmly in the “we’ll figure it out” camp.

I like having a general direction. I like knowing a few things I definitely want to see.

But do I need to know where we’re eating lunch next Thursday at 12:30?

Absolutely not.

Some of the best places we’ve found, meals we’ve eaten and people we’ve met happened because we changed the plan, took a different road or decided to stay somewhere longer than we expected.

Give me a destination and a little room to wander.

If you need a color-coded itinerary with scheduled bathroom breaks, we can absolutely still be friends.

We just probably shouldn’t share an RV. 😂
