Life has been a box of chocolates lately. I never know what I’m going to get on each new day. Juggling four different jobs at once is a skills test. But this one … the one pictured … is the one that recharges my batteries. I love teaching in the @uscftmba program. It was the assignment I dreamed of when I told myself, “one day, you’re going to teach.” Life has been crazy. This keeps me sane. by @larry.vincent

My therapist will tell you Midwestern introverts like me aren’t built for posts like this. Bear with me.

Today I received a Marshall Teaching Excellence award. I also won my fourth Golden Apple. I wasn’t expecting either, and to say my day took a delightful turn is an understatement.

To be recognized by colleagues I admire means a great deal. To earn another vote of confidence from my students means even more. Many of them follow me here and I am sending a big hug and an even bigger thank you.

I’m a lucky man. Teaching is something I aspired to for many years, and I had no idea just how rewarding it would actually be. The awards are very nice, and much appreciated. But the real win is the feeling I’ve had over the past five years that I’m exactly where I should be. by @larry.vincent

Today begins my death year. Let me explain. It’s not what you think.

It is my 57th birthday. 57 is also the age my father was when he passed away. We were not close when he left this life. The number 57 has haunted me ever since.

My family has counseled me to not draw comparisons. Dad was a physical trainwreck, the result of massive substance abuse and a lot of unhealthy living. That does not square with my life. Still, my anxiety has grown with each day that I inched closer to his mortal timestamp.

Mortality is a funny thing. You don’t think about it until something makes you. When Jordan was so sick with cancer it’s all I thought about. If she died I didn’t think I could recover. Meanwhile she only thought about living her best life.

I’m choosing to follow her lead. I aim to reframe what the death year means. It’s more than outliving the old man. Astrologically, this is the start of my villain year. And This is the beginning of a transformation, not the length of a Fates thread. From this day forward, anything is possible. Life can be a dream. by @larry.vincent

The past few weeks have been a whirlwind in the never ending month of January. Despite the awfulness in the real world, my world has been productive. A full load of classes. A full load of client work. A full load of things I want to write and am writing.

2025 was a hard year. But maybe it was the sand that begets the pearl. My definition of faith isn’t tied to a higher power. It’s tied to purpose and hard work and just trusting that things usually work out. When you do that, you can usually leap forward. It feels like that’s what’s happening now. And I’m very grateful. by @larry.vincent

My fourth year of teaching in our full time MBA program in the books, and honestly … this was the best one yet. These 174 students brought their best every single day. They delivered a classroom experience that I imagined when I dreamed of becoming a professor. The energy, the thinking, the participation — all of it. I’m in Seoul, South Korea with my EMBA students. We officially begin our adventures tomorrow but I came in a day early for some rest and the chance to see a part of the world I’ve never visited before.

A long time on a plane and some alone time in a foreign place allowed for lots of reflection. I was thinking about the preposition “of” this morning. In another time I would be introduced far from home as Larry of Los Angeles. Coincidentally, that is my rap name. But the word really connotes belonging. Yes, I’m Larry of LA but also of USC and of the Vincent family and of so much more. Belonging is a wonderful thing. When you think on it, you feel part of something else and less on your own. We all belong somewhere, to something, and occasionally to someone. by @larry.vincent
