RIP Ray Caviano — a true pioneer, champion and force in dance music. ❤️🎶

From his groundbreaking work at TK Records to founding RFC Records, Ray helped shape the sound and culture of disco and dance music for generations. He played a major role in breaking artists including Vicki Sue Robinson, Village People, KC and the Sunshine Band, Gino Soccio and Change — and helped elevate the importance of club DJs in breaking new music.

It means even more to me now knowing that Ray had recently been sharing some of his newest projects with me on Facebook. Those exchanges feel especially precious today.

For more than 50 years, Ray gave his passion, his ear and his heart to the music and artists he believed in.

His influence on our dance music community is immeasurable, and his legacy will continue every time one of those records fills a dance floor.

Rest in peace, Ray. You will be deeply missed. ❤️🙏🎶 taken in Hialeah, Florida by @larry_flick

“I'm not a conventional leading man at all and have no wish to be."

Tim Curry was an innovator and a visionary. His work made the world feel a little safer for all of us on the fringe of society. I’m in pieces over this. by @larry_flick

Here I am with my forever-sister @michaelpaoletta. This was taken in my old Billboard cubicle. I was senior talent editor and he was the dance music editor. So many gorgeous memories. If you zoom in, you will clock a mega-size Britney Spears poster and a vintage Marie Osmond album cover. I was SO butch! by @larry_flick

Calvin Harris was, and will always be, a brilliant artist and a wonderfully charming fella. We’ve had some lovely chats over the years… especially during those early days when he admitted to being too nervous to create music in front of others. He’s clearly grown out of that!

This was about 3 months before “Just Dance” became a hit. I wasn’t even sent a copy of the single. I had to fish it out of a programmers trash bin to play on the air. The same programmer who refused to meet her during that visit… who then tried to take credit for breaking her.
