From the family of Larry King:

We are heartbroken over our father's death, and together with our extended family mourn his passing. The world knew Larry King as a great broadcaster and interviewer, but to us he was 'dad.' He was the man who lovingly obsessed over our daily schedules and our well-being, and who took such immense pride in our accomplishments -- large, small, or imagined. And, through it all, we knew without a doubt in the world that he loved us more than life itself. He was an amazing father, and he was fiercely loyal to those lucky enough to call him a friend. We will miss him every single day of our lives.

The outpouring of love and the remembrances of his remarkable career have touched us deeply and we are so thankful. In lieu of flowers, we kindly ask consideration of a donation to the American Heart Association or the Beverly Hills Fire Department EMS, to which a debt of gratitude is owed for the wonderful care they provided to our dad in his final years.

With deep appreciation,
Larry King, Jr., Chance King, and Cannon King by @larrykingnow

With profound sadness, Ora Media announces the death of our co-founder, host, and friend Larry King, who passed away this morning at age 87 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

For 63 years and across the platforms of radio, television and digital media, Larry's many thousands of interviews, awards, and global acclaim stand as a testament to his unique and lasting talent as a broadcaster. Additionally, while it was his name appearing in the shows' titles, Larry always viewed his interview subjects as the true stars of his programs, and himself as merely an unbiased conduit between the guest and audience. Whether he was interviewing a U.S. president, foreign leader, celebrity, scandal-ridden personage, or an everyman, Larry liked to ask short, direct, and uncomplicated questions. He believed concise questions usually provided the best answers, and he was not wrong in that belief.

Larry's interviews from his 25-year run on CNN's "Larry King Live," and his Ora Media programs "Larry King Now," and "Politicking with Larry King" are consistently referenced by media outlets around the world and remain part of the historical record of the late 20th and early 21st centuries.

Ora Media sends our condolences to his surviving children Larry, Jr., Chance, Cannon and the entire King family.

Funeral arrangements and a memorial service will be announced later in coordination with the King family, who ask for their privacy at this time. by @larrykingnow

It is with sadness and a father's broken heart that I confirm the recent loss of two of my children, Andy King, and Chaia King. Both of them were good and kind souls and they will be greatly missed.

Andy passed away unexpectedly of a heart attack on July 28th, and Chaia passed on August 20th, only a short time after having been diagnosed with lung cancer.

Losing them feels so out of order. No parent should have to bury a child.

My family and I thank you for your outpouring of kind sentiments and well wishes. In this moment, we need a little time and privacy to heal. I thank you for respecting that. by @larrykingnow

James Lipton always knew the secret to a great interview, which is to make it about the guest and not about himself. He was charming, funny and smart as hell too. I always enjoyed my time with him. by @larrykingnow
