Send her away and you take care of every little thing that household needs to operate + thrive. Guarantee you’ll be surprised. Each role is different but both are equally necessary. As a husband and wife raising a family you have to remember you’re a team through it all.Some days I’ll have more energy, some days she will. Some days I’ll do more, some days she will. Stop the comparing game and stop driving a wedge in the relationship. Postpartum journey is hard.. it’s long.. and it looks different for everyone but it is REAL.. “But what can I do?”The biggest ones for me are making sure my wife stays fed + hydrated. During postpartum, it’s like her body is running a marathon every single day and she NEEDS fuel to keep up. This will help her hormones bounce back + regulate. This will help her milk production. This relieves her mental load and is just one less thing she needs to think about. Not to mention these are nutrients for YOUR baby. We get one shot at this guys, one chance to do it right. One opportunity in time to truly show her who you are, the lengths you’re willing to go to, and what type of man + husband you aspire to be. I don’t need sleep, I don’t need to watch football, I don’t need to go golfing, I don’t need to grab beers with the boys.. What I NEED to do is take care of my person + family who desperately need me.I’m going to carry out this behavior beyond postpartum. Stepping into this new version of a provider, caretaker, husband + father has been a challenge but I’m doing my best everyday to face it head on. What if I told you we miscarried the day before these photos were taken. The most devastating experience right before our wedding and happiest day of our lives. What if I told you our first place together was the basement of an old house and for two years we had no washer/dryer or dishwasher. Thats where we learned to live together (she didn’t do a single load of laundry that whole time). What if I told you before that, our first two years together she stayed loyal and by my side while I was away on commercial fishing boats crabbing in Alaska. One season being 5 months long. Most woman could never, but she did. What if I told you we’ve gone from broke and chasing dreams to watching them slowly come true. Every step of the way supporting each other. What if I told you we have felt so much pain and hurt on our journey to becoming parents. But all of our angel babies in Heaven have seen us hold each other through it all. What if I told you that this beautiful woman right here, that I am so so lucky to call my wife and mother of my children, is my soul mate. Tried being mom for the weekend and barely survived 😅I had two main goals:1. Keep our baby alive 2. Do not call mom telling her to come home We succeeded 😂🤘🏼 I should add, my wife DID NOT know I was having to use a syringe (she would’ve driven home immediately) because I LIED and told her baby girl was taking the bottle (which she actually was some of the time for 1-2oz) so don’t even start with the “how could she” comments..I just wanted to give her a much deserved weekend away to relax after spending almost every waking moment for the last 8 months being the best mom a baby + husband could ask for 🙌🏼#baby #dadlife #newdad #girldad #newparents by @larryybell
