Larsen Gardens is the dream‑folk project of Portland artist Sarah Larsen, whose voice carries a velvet edge that echoes other artists working in the cinematic, emotionally charged corners of indie folk. Her songs unfold slowly with noir‑leaning guitar textures and devotion to atmosphere.

Across the US, Sarah Larsen has shared bills with King Hannah, TORRES, Mason Jennings, John Craigie, Anna Moss, and Shook Twins. Her record Moonflower was produced by Jen Gunderman (Sheryl Crow and The Jayhawks) and Joe Pisapia (Guster and k.d. lang). Their combined experience lends a seasoned, Americana‑rooted sophistication to Larsen Gardens.

ARTIST FEATURE 📣 @larsengardens is bringing something special to the Jenkstar Ranch for Building Man 2026!

Larsen Gardens is the project of Portland musician Sarah Larsen, whose songs move with a kind of deliberate dreamy tension that invites a full bloom. She writes in a way that feels both meticulous and instinctive, letting odd corners, open dreamfolk space, and small melodic turns carry more weight than any big gesture could.

Her voice stays close and unforced, reminiscent of 90s raw femme a la Cat Power mixed with freak-folk nylon guitar — the kind that can cut through a room without ever getting loud. The guitar work is patient and slightly off-kilter, favoring subtle shifts over showmanship. There’s a sense that every choice has been lived with for a while before it’s committed.

Her debut album MOONFLOWER was recorded with an unusually seasoned cast: Jen Gunderman (Sheryl Crow, The Jayhawks) and Joe Pisapia (KD Lang, Guster) helped shape the arrangements, while engineers Dan Knobler (Lake Street Dive, Erin Rae) and Johnny Bregar brought a clarity that let the quieter moments land with weight.
