Naples, Italy, through my #leicaq3

Over the past few years, I have returned to #napoli regularly. Each time I notice something new: Vesuvius above the rooftops, laundry between balconies, saints in the kitchen light, an old Fiat in the sun, Maradona watching over an alley and pizza shared on the rocks by the sea, cut with scissors. Of course.

What keeps bringing me back is more than the city itself. Over time, I have made friends here, which makes every visit more personal. I return for the streets, the light and the energy, but also for familiar faces and conversations.

These photographs show the Naples I keep discovering: everyday life, faith, humour, contradictions and a strong sense of community. A city that can feel cinematic, but is often most interesting in its ordinary moments.

I took this #analogphotography with my #leicam6 in Nuremberg this spring. I saw this older man sitting by a church door, reading with a magnifying glass, and knew I wanted to take the picture. I had completely forgotten about the #filmroll so I was very happy when I got it back from the lab a few days ago and found this photo #shotonfilm #filmisnotdead taken in Nürnberg by @larsericschuldt

Sometimes a few hours in Vienna are all you need. 📷

A little street photography, a few quiet moments, and a visit to the #albertina

One highlight was seeing Albrecht Dürer’s Young Hare from 1502. Since the original is rarely on display, it felt particularly special to see it in person.

I guess it’s time to switch hats. ⚾️ 🧢

You see Yankees hats everywhere these days. And yes, I had one too. But after my first game at #fenwaypark I think it’s official: I’m a @redsox fan now. So the NY had to make room for a proper Boston B. 😄 Swipe to photo 2 for proof.

There’s one more story I wanted to share from that night. Team USA Olympic medalists from Massachusetts who competed at Milano Cortina 2026 were honored at Fenway Park. You’ll find them in photo 5.

When highlights from the women’s ice hockey final appeared on the big screens, I saw people around me with tears in their eyes. As a sports fan, that really moved me.

Seeing how a stadium celebrates its local athletes and what their achievements mean to people was something special.

Another reason why this night at Fenway Park was about much more than #baseball 🇺🇸🥇⚾️

World Photography Day 📷

Thanks to the wonderful photographer @jn for reminding me what day it is today.

For me, photography has always been about seeing the world through different eyes. Looking closer. Noticing people, places and moments.

Photography makes me experience the world more intensely.

For many, today is the first day back at work. For others, school starts again this week.

The holidays are over and everyday life slowly takes over again.

I spent a day at @rencontresarles one of the world’s most important #photography📷 festivals.

Of course, I visited the exhibitions. But I found myself just as fascinated by the photographs outside.

Throughout the city, works by photographers from around the world are pasted onto old walls. Over time they fade, tear and disappear, becoming part of #arles itself.

I love that idea. It turns the whole city into an open air gallery where every street has something new to discover.

A few more frames from my #fifaworldcup2026 trip before we head into the final weekend, with only two matches left.

Almost 10 days after coming home, I am still taking it all in.

I decided at very short notice to fly to the US. Despite all the talk about politics, FIFA, ticket prices and Americans not caring about football, I went.

Then football took over. It was bigger than politics and all the noise around it.

I met wonderful people from all over the world and many Americans who were curious, welcoming and excited about the game. The stadiums were different from those in Europe, but the atmosphere created by so many nations was unforgettable.

“The World Cup didn’t need America, but America needed the World Cup.”

Maybe. But I needed this World Cup too.

As my friends from @hoexter_we_follow said: “Money comes back. Memories don’t.”

A stadium burger and a beer may have cost around 45 dollars. The memories will last much longer.

My mother once told me that the 1974 World Cup was one of the greatest experiences of her life. She watched every match of the German national team in the stadium, including the final. I have never forgotten that.

Maybe that is why I try to take these chances when they come along. You probably do not get many experiences like this in a lifetime.

Now I am looking forward to a short summer break before the German Bundesliga starts again and the focus shifts back to the clubs 💙🤍closest to our hearts.

Although, just before writing these lines, I bought a ticket for the opening game of the Ice Hockey World Championship.

So it never really stops. 😅
