Senja Rummukainen plays with the Oslo Philharmonic at short notice On 14 and 15 October, @senjarummukainen will perform Shostakovich’s Cello Concerto No. 1 with the Oslo Philharmonic , conducted by Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla. Written in 1959 for Mstislav Rostropovich, the concerto has become one of the cornerstones of the cello repertoire. Both concerts also feature Britten’s Four Sea Interludes, while the programme on 15 October includes two more works inspired by the sea: Debussy’s La Mer and Mendelssohn’s Calm Sea and Prosperous Voyage. #senjarummukainen by @larus_agency

Earlier this April, Nicolas Baldeyrou made his debut with the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Masato Tadaaki Otaka, in two concerts at Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre Concert Hall. What made these performances especially touching was that @nicolasbaldeyrou shared the stage with one of his very first students, Fuminori Haga, a member of the orchestra’s clarinet section. For the encore, Nicolas prepared a special arrangement from Bizet’s Carmen for three clarinets, and performed it together with Fuminori Haga and Yomiuri’s solo clarinet, Taira Kaneko. 📸 ©読響　撮影＝藤本崇 #nicolasbaldeyrou #yomiurinipponsymphonyorchestra by @larus_agency
