Today, I had the opportunity to share something deeply personal to me: why charter schools matter and how my alma mater changed the trajectory of my life.

There is something incredibly profound about returning to the very place that helped shape who you are, not as a student, but as an educator entrusted with helping shape the lives of those who come after you.

Every day I walk the halls of Thurgood Marshall Academy, I am reminded of the young girl I once was, the opportunities I was given, the people who poured into me, and the possibilities that were made visible because someone believed in my potential.

And now, I get to be that person for someone else.

My passion for education has never been solely about curriculum, standards, or test scores. It is about people. It is about access. It is about ensuring that children feel seen, heard, valued, and capable of becoming more than their circumstances might suggest.

The work is not always easy. Some days are exhausting. Some days challenge me in ways I never imagined. But the purpose behind the work remains unchanged.

I am not simply teaching in the building that changed my life. I am participating in the possibility of changing someone else’s.

And that is a responsibility I will never take lightly.

This is more than a career for me. It is personal. It is purposeful. And it is a full-circle moment that I get to experience every single day. 💕

Fruit + Labor + Love ✨

Yesterday I walked across another stage earning my second Master’s degree this time, I’m allowing myself to fully feel the accomplishment as I’ve spent so much time trying play this dangerous game of comparison where the prize … was well…. Non existent!

There were moments I wanted to give up. Moments I questioned myself. Moments I carried more than I thought I could. But somehow, through every late night, every setback, every season of becoming… I kept going.

What makes this achievement even more meaningful is the love that surrounded me along the way. To my tribe 🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹thank you for reminding me who I was when I forgot, for pouring into me, praying for me, encouraging me, and showing up for me in ways I once only dreamed about. Your love carried me more than you know.

Today, I feel grounded in purpose. Deeply grateful. Deeply humbled. I am proud of the woman I’ve FOUGHT to become.

Proof that you can start over.
Proof that healing and growth can exist together.
Proof that hard things can still lead to beautiful places. ✨🤍
