Yes, I often use a shampoo to cleanse away Step 1 if any supplementary products (such as certain powders, balm glues, or even some cleansers) may have film-forming properties. I don’t want anything creating a barrier that could interfere with the penetration of hydrogen peroxide, which is crucial for proper disulfide bond restoration during Step 2.
