It’s been 10 weeks and it’s still surreal that you have transitioned from being Hamilton’s superhero to his angel. I continue to ask The Lord to guide our son, as he navigates life as a 9 year old child that has lost the two most prominent men in his life, YOU and his Papa Viney. Only Jesus knows the plans of his young life. I will continue to raise our son to be decent, productive, self sufficient and to make a positive impact on society.

Making this post is out of my instinctively private comfort zone. However, a loved one reminded me that you had such an impactful and steady online presence, I should share what I felt comfortable with during such a time of great mourning for our son, both of our families, and close friends. As life moves on for those around us (as it should)…..Hamilton has to now sit in this monumental loss, and grow through it. I’m grateful for the village we built together for our son. I’m also blessed by the friendship and co-parent partnership we established after our divorce.

3/15/21 changed my family’s life forever. Anyone who knows me personally, knows that I’m instinctively private. Just like my father, whom, I want to honor on today. My father was a simple man in every sense of the word, but always wanted the best for his family. He was the BEST listener, and even better advice giver (a lot of his wise counsel came in the form of prolonged silences 😂).

He often looked intimidating with his 6’4 260 lbs SOLID stature…he was the kindest, most gentle man to those he loved.

My father was the man he was teaching my son to be, a man of his word, a man of integrity, and a man that honored God. His walk was imperfect, of course, but I’m grateful for the structure and strong moral compass that my parents imparted in my brother and I. We miss you immeasurably, Daddy.

I’ve often heard, “time heals wounds”. Time has allowed me to accept that I won’t be able to pick up the phone and call my daddy everyday or hug his neck really tight again. But to know he’s resting well, gives me comfort and peace. Richard Scott Viney 😇 4/24/1957-3/15/2021❤️ by @lashonda_viney
