Style is LIBERATION✨

After my divorce, I realized I had completely lost myself. Learning how to style myself again helped me reconnect with the woman underneath the survival mode. Every piece I wear now feels intentional — versatile enough for my everyday life, but expressive enough to honor the artist in me.

I love finding unique pieces from artists, local shops, African import stores, and spaces rooted in Black and Chicago culture. Sometimes it’s Akira, sometimes it’s a small neighborhood gem, but every outfit tells a story about reclaiming myself.

And truthfully, I didn’t start this journey alone. I had support at the beginning from people who reminded me that self-expression could be healing too.

Gamma Xi Phi take seriously the responsibility of initiating new members. This fraternity is not for people who want a social media moment or a chance to be “Greek” by any means necessary.

This is a community of working artists first and foremost. We change the world through our individual crafts, but also together, through artistic community service and the uplift of artistic organizations. And we do it while having fun!

In times like these, we need artists more than ever—especially artists who believe in justice.

🖤💜🩶The Kappa Chapter of Gamma Xi Phi will have a table at The Woman to Woman Artisan to connect with creatives on the South Side of Chicago who are aligned with our principles of philanthropy, sodality, and elevation.

The purpose of Gamma Xi Phi is to honor the achievements of artists through fellowship, philanthropy, social justice, and service. Gamma Xi Phi promotes philanthropy and service to the arts, brotherhood among all artists, and leadership development in artistic professions through colligate and community outreach to people of color across the world.

As a proud charter member of the Kappa Chapter, I’m excited to partner with The Healing Academy to support their mission of transforming communities through artistic practice and education.

I never who I’ll meet when I visit my parents at the salon. Today was an excellent day to be in the building because I had the pleasure of meeting their HIGH SCHOOL video teacher from Carver. Giving my mother the light and love she deserves as I’m learning to post more and share my story. My creative wellness training began with her example. She’s is extremely CREATIVE. She taught me the power of charisma and appearance at a young age and it has served me well as social currency. Learning to post anything on here. I was chilling in my car outside my dad’s shop catching up with my cousin when this moment happened. I am a daddy’s girl to the core. I had to post this.
