🥵 New Orleans is feeling the heat today. With “feels like” temperatures reaching up to 115°F, extreme heat can be dangerous for pets, too. Keep them indoors as much as possible, limit walks and outdoor activity, provide plenty of fresh water and always check the pavement before heading outside. Watch closely for signs of heatstroke, including excessive panting or drooling, weakness, vomiting, confusion or collapse. If you suspect heatstroke, seek veterinary care immediately. Stay cool and keep those paws safe! 🐾 by @laspca

Want to see your cat shine at Carnival 2026? 😺🎬✨ At this year’s Carnival: the Paw-ty with a Purpose, our biggest event of the year, we’re launching a brand-new Cat Theater experience, where guests can celebrate the magic of cats while helping our adoptable cats find their fur-ever homes. And we need YOUR cat videos to make it happen! 📹 Submit your cat's best videos to our PR email by September to be featured in the Carnival Cat Theater. Every submission will be included, and one lucky submitter will be randomly selected to receive two FREE general admission tickets to this year's event. As we move into the new year, the Louisiana SPCA is adjusting how some services are delivered beginning in February 2026. Our mission has not changed. We remain fully committed to humane animal care, public safety, and serving as the open-admission shelter for Orleans Parish.
