Exactly 35 years ago at this exact time (6:28 am) is when I found out my mother had died in her sleep. I was 16. This one of my life's before and after moments. I miss her tremendously and I know she tried her best to be a good mom. I miss you, Mommy. 💔 ❤️‍🩹 ❤️ by @latebloomingstudio

A couple of recent sketchbook pages. I'm working larger than I normally do and am including collage images, which has been a lot of fun and challenging!

What I’ve been getting into in my sketchbook lately. by @latebloomingstudio

I really love this one and hope it goes to a new home. I'm experimenting with a new palette that's very different from my usual bright colors and more autumnal in feel. That faded strip of W&N Cobalt Green Dark is just killing me.

Look, the prompt was BASKET. How could I not draw and paint this Ohio (ugh*) landmark? I am incredibly pleased with this. I used a reference image and that really helped me get the parts more or less correct--it's missing a floor and there were trees in front of it that I eliminated in favor of Bob Rossian Happy Little Trees. I used Stuart Semple's paint palette and the brown is named "Butt Nugget," which I love.

* I am from Michigan. I am obliged to ugh at Ohio.

Peachtober day 18: Sprinkle

Obvious, but I like how this turned out; I used Neocolors to draw each part and then wet them so they were paint and then outlined and added the sprinkles with colored pencil.

It's been years since I drew a Celtic knot. Today's prompt was "braid," and a knot was the first thing I though of. I'll have to draw more, because I used to be a lot better at it than this.

I'm really pleased with how this turned out. Gotta love granulating paint. The prompt was "moon."

I really couldn't resist with the prompt of "sun."

Doing a bit of a catch up with my Peachtober efforts!

10: Compass
11: Sail
12: Bramble (this one is so bad that you should just skip right past it tbh)
13: Windmill
14: Crayon (the darn fixative made the neocolors go a bit smeary)
