Self belief as an artist (part one)
Stay true to your art and don’t compromise your sound to try to fit into any one specific genre if it doesn’t feel right within yourself.

Let’s talk about remixing (part one)…..
Remixing has undoubtedly been my biggest asset as a music producer and I’ve been fortunate enough to have remixed some of the biggest names in the music industry such as @siamusic @nineinchnails @erasureinfo @theprodigyofficial @thisismylo @therollingstones @u2 @thekillers and many, many more…
Do you enjoy remixing and if so, who have you remixed?

Where it all started!
An Amiga 500, Yamaha SY35 and an Alesis 3630 compressor (famously used by @daftpunk)
It’s all about the journey, so just enjoy it!

Some advice from one artist to another!
Basically stay true to yourself, never second guess your art! It’s unique to you and should always remain that way.

House music was a huge part of my early forays into music production and DJing! I loved artists such as @armandvanhelden @djtoddterry @djkennydope and even the more techno side with artists like @cjbolland @joshwink1 @speedyj_jochempaap and progressive house tracks from @djsashaofficial @bt @bedrockrecords and heaps of stuff and I would usually do sets where I mashed them all together!

Somewhere along the way I gravitated to the darker side with drum n bass and then accidentally falling into breakbeat!

During covid I worked on a project where I was exposed to loads of great new music that fused all those early house flavours and it was really inspiring to me!

I hadn’t really made a 4/4 track for many, many years and really started to enjoy the process and got the bug as back when I listened to it, I was just starting out in my production and didn’t really have the confidence to make that kind of music.

In 2023 I started @equalateral_ and the tracks just started to pour out!! (I have over 25 original tracks and about 20 remixes I’ve either done for fun or been asked to do!

For some reason this sound that I have landed on and developed over the last 2/3 years really hits me deep! It feels like I can really get in tune with my soul and emotions through it and is a very satisfying feeling.

My new single ‘The Ancients’ is a bit of a nod to some of the early house vibes I mentioned with a deep melodic twist and a track that kind of wrote itself! I’ve been playing it in my personal dj sets for almost 2 years and thought that I just had to get it out into the world!

I’d love to know if you guys are feeling the vibes (along with other tracks that I’ve released on my relatively new @lateral_thinking_label imprint!).

Thanks for listening.
