The journey to becoming a genetic counselor is a unique path of self-discovery! I learned about genetic counseling 7 months before the 2021 application cycle opened... crazy I know 😱😌.

I knew that all of the experiences I had to date were meaningful & truly taught me something about myself, my passions, and ultimately my goals. 🫶 I reminded myself that what felt like a setback was a push to keep going!

What happens after graduation? That was the question that lingered in my head the months leading up to the "end", the final comprehensive exam, final capstone presentation, the last "last day" of classes. I am happy to report that I am alive haha! These past couple months, have been full of so many things - family time! cat cuddles! continuous reflection 😩! tiring nights of job applications 😪✨! and preparing for boards! by @latinaingc

Con mucha alegría comparto con ustedes unas fotos de el ultimo WAF AID-GC retiro de el año escolar. Este retiro tomó acabo en Boston, y tuve la oportunidad de ver a mis amigos, explorar la ciudad, y hacer muchas cosas académicas como presentar mi tesis 🥹❤️ by @latinaingc

Hola a todos! Feliz día de concientización del asesoramiento genético!! Hoy celebramos todos los esfuerzos de reconocimiento para nuestro campo realizados por los miembros de nuestra comunidad dentro de sus poblaciones de pacientes, clínicas y lugares de trabajo, y comunidades personales. ✨

También quiero reconocer todos los esfuerzos hechos por nuestra propia comunidad Latina/o/e en asesoramiento genético - que aunque somos solo 3% de este campo de trabajo, somos importante y representamos a nuestros pacientes.

Hello everyone! Happy Genetic Counseling Awareness Day!! Today we celebrate all the recognition efforts for our field made by members of our community within their respective patient populations, clinic and workplaces, and personal communities. ✨

I also want to recognize all the efforts made by our own Latina/o/e community in genetic counseling - although we are only 3% of this field of work, we are important and serve as representation for our patients.
