The Soapbox Presents curated a diverse line up of Juneteenth🟥⬜🟦 events and activities that rejuvenated the mind and the soul. 🔥 It all started Friday, June 19th at Riverbank state with the 🎺The 5th Annual Big Band Jubilee.🎹 Then Saturday, the 20th, “We Outside!” returned to Downtown Brooklyn, Presented by 651 ARTS ➕ The Soapbox Presents. It was an all-day Juneteenth celebration rooted in Black joy, expression, and togetherness.💃🏽

@marija_abney “Providing FREE cultural community first programming is hard. Gathering as a community to celebrate the brilliance of our people is reason enough for us, regardless of where it is.“ ✊🏼✊🏼✊🏼
And the programming @thesoapboxpresents put together did not miss.🔥 It definitely was a vibrant public gathering where music, movement, storytelling, food, artistry, and community collide.🗽

This recap features a few 🤎 friends & family.🤎

That's a wrap on #selftapemay 🎉
16 tapes done for the month of May!🎉

I really enjoyed this opportunity to play and try new things in my tapes. I started late and was cutting it super close with getting the last tape in by the end of the month, but I did it!

From early mornings & late nights, to remembering my gloves, and trial & error with tech, makeup and props (I'm still finding fake blood splatter), this challenge was a great reminder that in the midst of doing the work, don't forget one key element: have fun.

Shout-out to @audreyhelpsactorspodcast for creating this opportunity and community, and @wgelpi for tech help.

My awesome reader @patrickchangactor for being so reliable and enduring sometimes as much as four tapes in one day. You're a real one!

My amazing husband @thomasstaples2 for not judging me while I screamed, laughed, cried, rolled around on the floor, walked around the house talking to myself, wearing bruise makeup and getting fake blood everywhere. You're the best! 😘

Til next year... ✌🏽

If you're in the mood to watch my work for the month, mosey on over to my self tape page-> @lightscameralatrisha by @latrishatstaples

Today is Administrative Professionals Day. In addition to acting, I have been an Administrative/Executive Assistant (EA) for over 15 years. I fell into the career by accident and it has been a surprisingly rewarding journey.

Sometimes being an EA means you get called upon to do a lot of other jobs. This video was made in jest about some of the other "jobs" I get called upon to do while serving as an EA. 😆

Recently, a few of us in my department were invited to partake in a friendly competition where we presented our jobs to a group of high school students, who in turn had to vote on which job they'd most like to do.

My presentation (which included the video) resulted in me winning the competition. I was happily surprised that the students were able to see the value in what I do...or maybe they were just swayed by my presentation skills. 😉

Regardless, I'm blessed to feel supported and valued by my entire department, today on Administrative Professionals Day, and every day.❤️

The blizzard came on the heels of the finale of "Lend Me a Tenor" @portlandstageco and though the winds were high, they didn't come close to blowing me away as much as my castmates have these past couple months. What a fun, talented bunch of crazy clowns! 🤡🤡

Bravi to the entire cast, crew, apprentices and staff. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 You have made this experience warm (in frigid Maine!!!) and I have thoroughly enjoyed working and playing with you all!

Lend me a tissue b/c I'm gonna miss you folks.🥹🥲 "I won't even say goodbye; just au revoir!" 😉😆
