Honoring the Traditional Custodians of Naarm, the Wurundjeri and Boonwurrung Elders.

Two moments came together to inspire one idea. I was finishing my journal with @forest_creek_crafts when I received wonderful news about the land I now call home. I decided to create a ritual of gratitude, honouring this land, its ancestors, and my own, offering my art as thanks for welcoming me as a citizen.

I lit a candle, took deep, mindful breaths, prepared natural root pigments from turmeric and beetroot, and began to paint. Then I sewed the journal’s pages and wrote words of gratitude within.

True magic lives in these moments of ritual, reflection, and gratitude. Even far from our birthplace, our ancestors remain with us, in our thoughts, our blood, and everything we are.✴️

Like a snail’s shell that once sheltered its tiny inhabitant, now offering a home to a wandering hermit crab, change is part of nature’s rhythm. The crab does not fear moving on when the shell no longer fits its growing body and soul.
