On the eve of my VSG surgery, I am filled with excitement. However, this was not always the case, especially last week when I was overcome with fear and anxiety, prompting me to contemplate cancellation. The negative opinions of others were influencing my decision-making and mood. Having researched this surgery for nearly two years, I firmly believe it is the best decision for my well-being. Despite not having diabetes or hypertension, I have chosen to undergo this procedure as a preventative measure. My ultimate goal is to attain a state of overall wellness, which encompasses feeling and looking good, as well as maintaining a healthy lifestyle. This is not an easy way out; instead, it marks the beginning of a new lifestyle that may necessitate sacrifices to regain my health. I would like to express my gratitude to Torres, Kari, Shelly, Antoinette, Bee Ay Em, and Ieshia Phillips for their encouragement and insightful advice regarding the surgery.
