We love this epic Buḻwutjal linocut by Muluymuluy Wirrpanda!

“Buḻwutja is a water yam that grows in the billabong. My sister Mulkuṉ taught me how to paint this. Bulwutja has a songline which is sung by my clan, Dhudi-Djapu. This is a Dhuwa plant. The old people would go and collect Buḻwutja in the wet season.” by @laundrygallery_

Gapu XII, the latest collagraph series from @djilpinarts are available at Dog Eared Darwin!

These collographs were developed by 15 artists over a week in April 2025 at Djilpin Arts Centre in Wugularr (Beswick), with printmaker Antonia Aitken from Basil Hall Editions. Artists have depicted traditional string and dilly bags, bathi + exploring the place of these artefacts in culture, ceremony and mythology. And they’ve been printed in the most gorgeous striking colour palette! 😍

X marks ten years of shared practice, while also signalling collaboration, the instinctive way Brio artists build upon one another’s ideas, images and marks to create works that could only exist through collective making.

Grounded in Warumungu Country but informed by a broad visual imagination, the Tennant Creek Brio continue to challenge expectations of what Aboriginal art can be.

Which way is up?

Ben Ward’s Country is underwater, flooded when Lake Argyle was dammed.

Reflected back is only half the story. Below the surface, age-old stories and memory of the place Ben grew up still stir. He paints the language that surfaces.

Country doesn’t forget.
