My sister 💗 I'm so incredibly proud of her. 3 days ago she actually turned 29! Can you believe how time flies? Its not easy these days to feel joyful, but she deserves the world, for she gives so much love. I would have a near impossible time to go on if I hadn't been blessed with a sibling.

Lost Summer

All the things you never got to see, that I never got to show you (both my parents). 💔

I received my green card in February this year, then I got my US drivers license on April 28th, exactly 3 months later dad passed away. I never got to drive him around.

I found part time work that I loved in June. Teaching near water again, protecting lives and sharing knowledge at the local pool.
In July you celebrated my birthday. Proudly praising from a long distance.
July 26 was your wedding anniversary, 7 years already with sweet Corine.
Then a devastating phone call in the afternoon of July 28th, turned our world upside down again.

I'm at a loss for words...

And mom,

today would have been your 68th birthday, the same age we just lost our dad at. Isn't life strange?
You wouldn't believe what we've all been through these past 16 years. I hope you got to see dad again. We tell the little ones that they become stars on our horizon, forever watching over us. But the hard and dark truth is we don't know.

The 3rd of July you celebrated my birthday with Corine 💓 The 26th of July you celebrated your 7th wedding anniversary. And the 28th you were gone, without warning..

I hope to keep on making the both of you extremely proud.. You are so missed.

It took me over a decade to speak about my mom without immediately tearing up. Time doesn't heal, it fades the pain, and joyful memories get a chance resurface.
I see you both in my sister and myself, I see it in my adorable niece and nephew. I find strength in the knowledge that we are living proof of your existence, carrying on your legacy.

Our mother was an honest person, caring, loving, rebellious, justice seeking, an animal lover, a mother, a teacher, a nature lover, a nurse, a scubadiver.

Dad, the emptiness you leave behind is enormous. It feels like another big part is ripped out of me. My lungs feel heavy, filled with lead, every breath I takes energy. harrowing, devastating feeling. We miss you. I feel lost..

More questions than answers. Why, how, who's plan can this possibly be? It still doesn't feel real. I still wake thinking you'll app me with tiny updates, asking about the weather, the garden, and/or our lives. You were the first to google any sightseeing aspects of places we travelled to. You were involved. You are a big part of who I am. And now you're gone. Its feels like our history started fading and collapsing when you did. Its not fair.

You were always there for us, no matter what. You weren't always an easy person, but if my car broke down, you'd be there. Thank you for all the memories and love, we will always keep you close, in our heart 😭💗

I look for you in the wind, the sky, the birds.
You appeared in my dreams twice now, the first time you took a selfie with me, then disappeared. The second time I was lucid enough to realise you were there and I could talk to you. I choked up, couldn't speak through the tears, you asked: "What happened, dear?" ☁️

Its impossible to bear that we may never have the answers.. at least not in this reality.

Dad. I'm back in Curaçao, not for the reasons I meant or wanted to be. Your funeral was as beautiful as can be. Overwhelmed by the attendance. Your friends and family were mourning with us.
People said Corine, Eline and I spoke in heartbreaking words, saddening but also strong, courageous, lovingly, and reflecting our dads character perfectly 😭💔

I love you dad, I know that you see us, and we feel your presence. I will never be able to say all I wanted to say, but I know that you will hear us and listen forever. We will always carry a part of you with us.

You were so beloved, everyone that knew you is in complete shock. So are we. I can't comprehend it. It's not fair.

You just became a grandad, You had so many plans and projects left. We were going to see the sequoias, you told me a few days ago you wanted to see it all in real life, maybe this autumn.
Het mocht niet zo zijn.

And I'm heartbroken, so saddened, feeling guilty for the things not said, and I'm angry.
I'm sure you would be too,
this wasn't the deal, you were still young, and strong,

I'm sorry sweet family & friends for your loss as well. Thank you for the tiny bandages on my heart for those taking the time reassuring us of how dad spoke;
full of pride, full of love, always busy with woodworking, but immensely proud to be a grandfather and although not always easy, our beloved father.

@justdusty_ and I got extremely lucky when visiting Leavenworth! We got to book the first snow mobile trip of the season!! I had never been, so I was very excited to slide through this magical Wintery scene! The camera didn't do the view justice! 🏔❄️🌲
