Hello everyone! I’m Laura, the face behind my small business, Laura & Fauna. 🌸
•••••••
Some of you may know me personally, or maybe we've met in person at one of my pop-ups. And if we’re not acquainted, I’d be thrilled to connect with you. Here, you’ll get a BTS glimpse of my creative journey. 🎞️

My goal is to hopefully bring some extra joy, art, inspiration, and peace into your life through handmade pieces.

I love experimenting with new art mediums, but my tried and true favourites are acrylic paint, yarn, and clay. Feel free to message me with any questions regarding art, business, or anything.

I am so excited to share my passion, both virtually and in person.

Chaos and Zen: Opposing mental states creating a balanced piece. ⚖️☯️
•••••••
Medium: acrylic paint on canvas

I started this painting at a time when I was feeling stressed and overwhelmed. The "chaotic side" is visible through rough textures and highly contrasted colours. As I paint, my mind progresses into a more relaxed state with more organized thoughts and intentions. The smooth, flowy brush strokes represent the "zen" portion of the painting in calming pastel colours. Overall, this piece captures what happens inside a person's mind in the states of Chaos and Zen, and showcases the balance between the two co-existing extreme feelings.

One thing I learned while creating this piece is to have fun, and go with the flow. For me, starting on a blank canvas can sometimes have a lot of pressure attached to it. This time, I went in with the mindset of “If it’s bad, I’ll just paint over it.” I honestly thought this design was a little too random at first, but people seem to like it, making it my second best-selling print!

It was so amazing to talk to people about my inspiration and process of working on this piece at my markets. Thank you for stopping by to say hi :)

Also, shoutout to you for reading this far. It really means a lot, from a small artist.

Looking at the completed painting, I see a moon and waves through a forest. 🌊

Let me know what you see!

✨ Hello everyone! ✨

I hope you’ve been doing well, and have been staying cozy and warm as the seasons change.

Just wanted to give a little update because it’s been a while…

I’ve been working on some super cute and fun designs for this holiday season and they’re now live on my Etsy page!

I’m taking pre-orders on my new greeting cards, and will be shipping them out December 1 this year.

I would appreciate it tremendously if you could come by and visit my online shop some time.

See you soon!

I know it’s only November, but I’ve been working on some winter themed artwork, and I’m looking forward to sharing them all with you. 🌲⛄️❄️

I’ll be adding some additional listings to the shop every week as the holiday season is quickly approaching. Super excited to paint and crochet some more!

Butterfish Nigiri
2.5” x 3.5” acrylic on canvas
•••••••
I had some canvas off-cuts lying around, so I decided to paint a mini painting for this week’s #foodpaintchallenge

I think it turned out super cute, so I might turn these into a “mini foods” series!

Added some wasabi, and ginger as well :)

Swipe for the reference as always!

Strawberry Blossoms ZOOMED
•••••••
I love seeing the movement brush strokes create in a piece, so here are some pics from a #foodpaintchallenge painting of a waffle with strawberries, butter, and powdered sugar on top.

What do you like on your waffles?

🍓 Strawberry Blossoms 🌸
•••••••
Enjoy the warm spring weather with a sweet breakfast outside under some cherry blossom trees.

This week I participated in the #foodpaintchallenge but with a twist! I added strawberries because they’re my favourite topping on waffles. 🧇

✨ SURPRISE! ✨ I love this painting so much that I turned it into a print!

Mounted 8.5”x11” prints will be available in limited quantities at tomorrow’s Spring Art Market at « UofT’s Hart House in the Great Hall from 12 pm until 4 pm »

Soooo if you happen to be downtown (or out any way to see the eclipse), come by and say hi to the other artists and artisans who will be there as well :)

Okay last thing: are you team waffle, pancake, or crepe? 👀 Lmk below ⬇️

Spring is around the corner, and our little friend here is ready to take pictures of all the blooms.

Super soft and likes taking walks in the park. Looking to make some new friends. Allergic to water and fire. Likes the colour yellow and Easter-themed chocolates.

Just needs a passport and plane ticket to get to you. ($18 for plush + shipping). ✈️

Acrylic paint on a thin acrylic bookmark, with tassels of varying colours.

Each one is unique and has its own charm.

It is a great addition to your bookmark collection, or for those who start multiple books at the same time, like me :)

Thin and won’t crease your book pages.

Check out my shop if interested. Thanks for stopping by!
