One of the hardest things I’m still learning to overcome is GRIEF.

I’m not even sure it’s possible to overcome it… but I’ve learned how to live beside it. To gather the memories and look them in the face.

First, the news arrives. Then the relentless refusal to accept it as if rejection alone could force resurrection. Then the ground disappears beneath me. So does every version of myself that existed with that person. A witness to my own existence, gone. In many ways, the pain is a selfish one.

Something shifts quietly and permanently inside.

There’s the shock that something so inevitable has happened.

Then the anger… how dare you?
How dare you exist so fiercely and let your absence do the same? How dare the world keep moving when mine stopped? The sun still rises. The damn birds… still singing, oblivious of my suffering. People still laughing like anything is funny. Bad things still happen.

Life in all its beauty and darkness, continues without permission.

It took too long for me to realise that everything is energy. Energy is the life force of everything, seen and unseen. Scientifically… Spiritually…

The energy of the person I lost still lives with me in memory, in habits and in the way they shaped how I see the world.

Now I experience life through their eyes too.
A new iPhone or AI feature comes out and I think, “you would have loved this!”. I try things the way they might have. Two perspectives in one body…

From that, a new version of me is born. One I could never have created alone.

I am not grateful for the loss. I am still bitter sometimes. Still angry… but I’m learning that people are experiences and so am I.

To truly see and feel someone is to immortalise them.

Because of that, no one ever really dies…and nothing truly loved is ever lost.

CREATIVITY REWIRED: Shaping Rivers State Through Tech and Creativity

A specially curated panel by ART IN THE GARDEN CITY at the 2025 Port Harcourt Tech Expo.

This panel brings together some of Rivers State’s boldest thinkers & multidisciplinary voices - from digital storytellers to architects, urban thinkers to tech entrepreneurs - to explore how creativity and technology can co-author systems that are efficient, expressive, inclusive, beautiful and can shape a future-ready society.
