A few months ago I was delighted to share that our extraordinary cast won "Best Ensemble" for @47TheMovie from @Rocktheshorts Film Festival in Beverly Hills. (Pic featured.) Now, I'm overjoyed to say, we did it again! This months honors have been so unexpected and completely amazing to receive. Thank you @NewYorkFilmandActressAwards for TWO awards for "Best Drama" and "Best Ensemble.” Thank you, @CinemaOdysseyFilmFestival for the nod as "Best Women Empowerment Film," and Thank You @ChicagoFilmmakerAwards for granting us a Semi-Finalist nod! (Their final awards will be announced in January.)

Also, @gardenstatefilmfestival awarded us an "Official Selection" to join them in New Jersey this Spring! So exciting, and I've a feeling we'll be on the East coast a bit more next year. ;) Looking forward to seeing some of you along the way!!

For now, and as always, HUGE Thanks to our team and to all of you for continuing to share your love and support with us. We wouldn't be here without you and this is a tremendous way to close out 2024. Here's to more fun ahead!! by @laurelharrisactor

I've such admiration for artists who embrace vulnerability as a superpower - especially when it's used in a non-egotistical way to share awareness and expansion. I took a note from their expertise and - well - here goes! Thank you much @canvasrebel for the kind opportunity. 🙂

"Dolores Huerta, arguably the nation's best-known Latina civil rights leader, has died, her family said in a statement...."

One of our greatest voices for freedoms and equality stood boldly until the very end of her long and meaningful life. To continue to speak up, so incredibly bravely, into her 90's (!) will always inspire me. May we all take a page from her book as we move forward.

My Sunday Salute is to you, Ms. Huerta. THANK YOU!

Didn't think I'd be sharing another memory in this fashion so quickly, but here we are.... The passing of Gloria Steinem is a poignant one for me as well. My mother was a HUGE fan of hers - and I don't say that lightly. Once, Gloria was visiting our home town and my mother was more excited than I had eeeever seen her. It was as if mom was a kid again, getting to go to Disney, meet the head mice, and eat ice cream for days, she was so giddy. :)

Once at the event, we both had the unexpected and fortunate opportunity to meet Gloria herself and my mother, who was never at a loss for words, was suddenly star-struck and speechless! I did most of the talking and I'll never forget the perma-grin on my mother's glowing face while she watched us interact. Unfortunately, I don't have that picture to show you at the moment, but I'm grateful for it in my mind. It lives on as a reminder that dreams can come true, and as a shining moment of meeting someone who gave so much to make the world a better place for all of us. My Sunday Salute goes to you, Ms. Steinem, and THANK YOU! by @laurelharrisactor

I heard this week that downloads of Dolly Parton's music have skyrocketed. Did I alone do that?? Quite possibly. ;) Been on a binge ever since the news of her passing. Not that I needed that reason to put her 'on repeat,' but it does help the bittersweet pill of this revelation go down a wee bit smoother.

Hers was the very first concert I ever saw and I'll never forget it. My parents drug us to the Colorado state fair to see her headline when I was young. Once I realized I got to stay up late, and the magic of the show unfolded, I stopped protesting immediately. We were practically front row - or at least in my childhood mind we were. Looking up at her towering over me as this Goddess of glitter, blond and yes, bosom-ness was breathtaking. I asked in awe, "who IS this?!"

With her courage to unabashedly be herself, stand up for women's rights, give so generously, remain kind throughout her lengthy career, and even poke fun of herself in the sweetest of ways, she won me over. I know I'm not alone. (Tennessee may change their main airport's name to honor her. 'Nuff said.)

BRAVO Dolly. To a life well lived and for being a brilliant example to so many, I give my humble Sunday Salute to you and say, THANK YOU! by @laurelharrisactor

OK - here's the fun addendum to my last, "SAVE THE DATE" post...

Colorado turns 150 this year, and we’re excited to be celebrating in one of the best way we know how: with movies! 🎬🍿

Next weekend, we’re joining venues across the state for the Colorado 150 Film Festival - "a cinematic celebration of Colorado’s 150 years through iconic films and shared moviegoing magic."

Our short film, "47," is screening with other notable films that showcase the stories and storytellers that make Colorado unlike anywhere else. (There's so many fantastic films associated with Colorado. CITY SLICKERS, BLACKKLANSMAN, BUTCH CASSIDY AND THE SUNDANCE KID, DUMB AND DUMBER, THE SHINING, TRUE GRIT and INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE, for example. There’s lots to choose from!)

We’ll screen 47 The Movie Denver Film / SIE Film Center, as well as the Denver Botanic Gardens on August 22nd and 23rd, respectively, and would love to have you join us!

🎟️ To explore our screenings + the statewide lineup, see the link below.

Lastly, a ticket to either of the feature film screenings on our dates (August 22 and 23,) automatically includes our film’s screening prior. No extra ticket needed.

I’m excited to see you and celebrate with you all next weekend!

Giving my Sunday salute to all of those who have put out such tremendous work in film in ‘25. Happy Oscar Sunday, All! by @laurelharrisactor

Sunday Saluting International Women's Day! Here's the 411... The official UN theme for International Women's Day (IWD) 2026 is "Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls," focusing on dismantling legal and social barriers to equality, while the broader IWD campaign theme is "Give to Gain," promoting generosity, support, and empowerment. These themes emphasize translating rights into reality, achieving equal justice, and fostering collective progress through giving resources, voice, and opportunity.
