Dear Nashville,

Yesterday marked 7 years together. It’s crazy how fast time can go by. You sure have changed a lot and I certainly have too…

I’ve heard people say for songwriters this is a 7 year town. Well, I guess that’s also the case for me. The completion of a cycle; and ending and a beginning.

I moved here not knowing a soul -not ever having set foot in this city. It wasn’t what I wanted. I was moving to San Francisco; a place I loved to visit and where my close friends already lived. Though I knew deep down something about that choice didn’t feel quite right. When Nashville was presented as an option I felt what I can only describe as a sense of relief; a quiet yes. Though I still tried to ignore it, I let myself be open to the possibility.

I’m so grateful I did. Nashville surprised me from the start; the kindness the openness of everyone I encountered eased the transition. I nearly immediately found my people. My chosen family. That community has only continued to blossom and grow.

I spent so much of my first few years straddling myself between two worlds. I resisted calling this place home despite all it was showing me. I kept trying to leave but life had other plans. When I finally let go…things got even better.

These last seven years have some of the hardest but equally the most joyful and magical. And, without question, my greatest moments of growth. I had no choice but to put in the work.

As this chapter comes to a close I reflect and know it’s no accident I ended up here surrounded by the most creative and kind souls living life in the most inspiring ways. I know now that’s who I am too.

I’m sure it’s not totally over for us, Nashville. But, I’ve learned that when something unexpected shows up it’s best to roll with it. It’s no coincidence and things can turn out even better than you imagined. ✨

Nashville peeps past and present I love you. Let’s make the most of the next few months.

It's Giving Season and I am asking that you’ll help me support a giving initiative that means a lot to me. You’ve heard me talk about @keepabreast many times. Now, you can help us make a difference in the lives of 65 BIPOC women breast cancer survivors and those currently diagnosed.

The KAB Give Back Grant program has grown from 16 grantees in 2020 to 450 in less than 3 years! Each grantee receiving a $500 grant to use as they see fit.

As amazing as that impact is, there are still 65 eligible grantees this year that need to be funded.

Please help us fund 65 more $500 grants for BIPOC women survivors and those who’ve been diagnosed. Any amount helps us get closer to our goal! Link is in my bio!
