Be Movement Collective in RED 🎈

RED is a reflection on the healing power of blood — its persistent rhythm beneath the skin, carrying oxygen, repairing wounds, sustaining life. In a world riddled with trauma and division, can our collective movement become the oxygen that restores, the pulse that heals? How does blood move? How do white blood cells rush to defend and mend? Perhaps, the blood dances.
Choreographed by @laurenbism , RED draws from the rich lineage of Black social dances — including authentic jazz, hip hop, house, locking, and tap. These movement traditions have long served as vessels for restoration, resistance, and liberation. Through them, RED asks: can dance be our collective immunity — a way to heal the body politic and reimagine wholeness, together?

When I teach house, I aim to provide tools, routines, ideas, structures and practices that allow people to unlock their personal freedom in the dance. My approach prioritizes process over outcome, flow or force, connection over comparison, and rhythm over steps. I use foundational house movement as a pathway to guide people to their own choices. I create opportunities for connection and movement conversation in an effort to simulate and honor the traditions of house club culture. I am a student of life and keeper of culture and I’m privileged to share in the rich history and legacy of this music and dance culture called HOUSE!
