Grateful for these people ❤️ by @laurencpost

Wrapping up three weeks of the @mndancetheatre summer intensive. We worked hard, played hard, and witnessed incredible progress and growth in the studios. A special thanks to all of the amazing guest artists and MDT faculty who made this program possible! ❤️ by @laurencpost

Preparing for your upcoming summer intensive may be exhilarating, but adding up the bill for tuition, travel, room and board, and dress code requirements can be daunting. One of the most expensive items you’re likely to need are pointe shoes, and since they keep getting pricier (and you may need to buy multiple pairs), here’s what you can do to help protect your investment.

Head to the link in our bio for expert tips! 🩰

Descriptions
1) A pile of variously colored pointe shoes. Text: 2 tips to extend the life of your summer intensive pointe shoes
2) A dancer sits on the floor of a studio adjusting their right pointe shoe ribbons.
3) Text: Dry those shoes (and toe pads) out!
Do not leave your toe pads inside your shoes. Remove them and put them in a mesh bag instead. Then slide a silica or charcoal pouch inside each shoe to help absorb sweat, and keep the shoes in a separate mesh bag.
4) At a ballet barre, a dancer wearing a floral dress stands on pointe in fifth position with their right foot front. Sitting on the floor, Grace Lecture adjusts the dancer's foot and smiles up at them.
5) Text: Learn to use glue and shellac. Make your traditional pointe shoes last longer with a cyanoacrylate adhesive (super glue or Jet glue) and/or liquid shellac. Determining which one or combination to use is something dancers do through experimentation.

A whirlwind trip to NYC visiting some of the people and places I love most. Not pictured, the rest of my ABT family 🫶 I cannot wait to meet the newest addition arriving so soon! ❤️ by @laurencpost

MDT moved to Northeast Mpls in March of 2026. The construction process was a labor of love, and we are so grateful for the help from so many individuals and organizations, from the Twin Cities community and beyond.

Special thank you to @twincitiesortho, @harlequinfloors, @mericamay, @sherburneslaterconstruction, @urbangraincabinetry, Bridgewater Bank, and MDT’s Board of Trustees and donors for making this dream become a reality.

The future of MDT is bright, and we cannot wait to dance with you in our new space for years to come. 💚 by @laurencpost
