I see that it’s National Son’s Day and would never pass up the opportunity to honor Landon and Jordan. I can describe both as kind, loving, thoughtful, and considerate with a healthy dose of sarcasm and quick wit but it would make it seem as if they are a lot alike which isn’t true.

They used to joke about one or the other being my favorite child and I always said that I couldn’t imagine having a favorite because they each bring something so special and wonderful to my life.

Being the mom of these amazing boys who I get to witness as teenagers and, before I know it, men has been the greatest privilege of my life. by @laurenlhartz

This feels appropriate this week as big and little kids are starting school.. maybe a first day of kindergarten, first day of middle or high school, first last day of high school or college.

We will get to witness this girl graduate later this evening to close out a chapter in her life. Jillian is a quiet force in the world, already in her short 18 years. She has an innate wisdom, deep sensitivity and shows up absolutely authentic all of the time. Her ability to listen and her compassion will always serve her particularly as she transitions to Duquesne University’s Psychology program.

As with my kids, I look at pictures and think of the days when they were little but nothing compares to the friend that I have now in this girl. You would think that two of us share DNA as you often hear “just like Aunt Lauren.” But she’s really not “just like Aunt Lauren” (well maybe with her limited social battery and the quirkiness in how she sees the world and herself) but she is so, so much more. I aspire to her kindness, her gentleness, the way she lights up a room, her persistence in giving everything her absolute best, the fierce way that she loves her people, and so much more. The world is so much better off because Jill is in it.

We will watch her graduate tonight and celebrate her on Sat in the most “Jill vibe” party that there ever was. And right after that, we will look forward to all of the pictures that she will send us from Europe as she closes out her senior year on the trip with the school. by @laurenlhartz
