How am I actually saying goodbye to something that’s been my whole life for four years

I walked into tryouts as a scared freshman and somehow I’m leaving as a senior with a heart so full it almost hurts. This team watched me grow up. Through the awkward phases, the glow ups, the breakdowns, the big moments, and everything in between.

Cheer wasn’t just a sport to me. It was Friday night lights, shaking hands before running out, screaming until I couldn’t feel my voice, crying happy tears, and laughing so hard on bus rides my stomach hurt. It was my safe place. My people. My second home.

I grew into myself in this uniform. I found confidence I didn’t know I had. I found friendships that feel like forever. And I found a version of me that I’m so proud of.

I’m not ready to let it go, but I’ll forever be grateful I got to live it.

Senior season, you will always have my whole heart. 🤍📣 taken in Hibriten High School by @laurennadellee
