Another week of trying to become as English as possible 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
Tea rooms, a hamlet with terracotta athletes on the walls (completely normal), a new cabinet stocked with Fortnum’s and Charbonnel et Walker, and a Sunday spent not moving from this window seat.
This is the life I moved countries for. Still can’t believe it’s mine.
Are you a tea room person or do you need convincing? 👇

Hi, I’m Lauren…formally introducing myself after 279 posts 🎞️

My husband and I moved to England because apparently I couldn’t help myself. Then bought a Victorian terraced house in Hertfordshire. Still not sure if that was brave or unhinged, probably both.

This little corner of the internet is where I document the the bits in between. The empty rooms becoming something. The London walks. The tea rooms and hamlets. The slow, very English life I moved countries for.

Nice to meet you. 👇

I honestly thought my office was cursed. From finding damp to dealing with original window issues, I just felt a bit defeated with this room. I knew I wanted alcove shelves but I had no idea how to get them done until I found that @roomixhome had the best product out there for the space. All I had to do was measure, they made the bits and sent through a very thorough manual that guided me through this DIY project.

Obsessed with how they blend vintage charm with modern utility—perfect for styling my favourite finds! Gifted by @roomixhome – thank you!

Episode 1 of my ensuite redo 🛁 Victorian bones, 2026 panelling obsession, and absolutely zero intention of plastering properly. Follow along, it’s about to get messy.

Not my house this time 🤍

For the past few months I’ve been quietly working on a client’s home here in Hertfordshire. Every paint colour, wallpaper, light and handle, chosen and pulled together room by room.

The brief was light and bright, but still cosy and very English countryside. So far that’s meant amber wallpaper wrapping the snug, Ode to Toad green in the ensuite, warm terracotta woodwork on the landing, rattan wall lights, new tiles behind an old brass tap… and an awful lot of dust sheets.
It’s not finished yet, but I couldn’t keep it to myself any longer. The full reveal is coming soon.

Which room do you want to see first?

Not even kidding. I love a bit of DIY. Anyone else?

Big DIY plans on pause while we save for our bigger renovations (kitchen and bathroom), but a girl still needs a little treat every now and then. Swipe for the small updates that have been keeping me sane lately.

On the 1st of July, @drt.dvm @general_vieve and I went to Wimbledon Day 3 to really get the English experience…of queuing.

We arrived at 5:40 am, got in around 12:30 and had an absolutely incredible time. I think it really matters who you queue with, I was so lucky I had two fabulous friends with me. I would 10000 percent go earlier next time.

Excited for today’s final. Let’s go Zverev! by @laurenplit

New addition to the window seat: a ruffled curtain skirt in this gorgeous block-printed green, finally hiding the storage beneath. It’s still very much a work in progress: the cushions are getting swapped out, and Roman blinds are next on the list for these windows. Slowly, slowly. This spot gets incredible late afternoon light so it had to be utilised correctly. By utilised correctly I mean it’s now the official cat bed.
