This one, I call, The wildest week of my life. So far.

It’s the end of solo November. The highlight you’ve planned your trip around is just days away. Arriving in Chiang Mai a few days early to ensure you’re on time because, your planning skills, or lack thereof, are evident. Your mind feels hazy and vision is zoned out cloudy realizing the date is the birthday of the reason why you are here.

“Are you really doing this again? Be careful this time, see you in an hour!”—remarks from your newly acquired shocked Aussie roommates.

A noise grabs your attention, blinding lights paralyze and suspend you in the air, your body reacts with shock for the second time that day, hearing distant sirens. Metal dented, paint scratched, and organic marks etched on you. Thai Tattoo. Intrigued yet concerned Italian women join your bewildered state on their sightseeing tour with flashing lights. Later they get replaced by your -only a few days old- friends, influenced by recently indulged somehow legal substances, sharing laughter and then comfort you before continuing their adventure. And so do you, grateful.

Staring at the crawling mummy. “Have you seen that guy?” Itchy and bleeding, you explore Chiang Mai illuminated by yearly floating candles and fireworks, its beauty a balm to your senses. Lucky chance encounters with Canadian-Chinese travelers reveal shared passions, culminating in a night of disbelief, but this time filled with positive vibes.

“Are you going too?” A spontaneous 100 euros spent, leading to an unforgettable journey with Brazilian company, later somehow reuniting with your Canadian acquaintances in a 1 million touristic city. Good food was consumed and warm laughter was produced. And then… Bonfires turn into sparkles glinstering in your eyes. 1 word. Magical.

Wrapping up the day by encountering more wild and free lifestyles, Embracing and ending the spectacle with a quest to sample every Mcdonalds offerings across Asia.

This journey holds no material value, and is for now only captured by senses and sensors, while this post is just me striving to replicate and evoke those feelings I felt, towards you. taken in Chiang Mai, Thailand by @laurensvos_

If somebody had explained me the concept "backpacking" a bit earlier, I would have left way sooner. The amount of micro adventures you go on every day are insane.

Navigated through a tough breakup, some challenging months, and an unexpected career twist - felt completely lost. Heartbreak sparks life-altering events. Hitting the gym didn't cut it. So, what's next? Embarked on a spontaneous road trip through France, Planned destination: Barcelona. But end up with a shattered car window in Marseille.

Craving more. With no plans, hopped on a flight to Asia, securing a diving license just three days after landing. Explored the one of the most breathtaking coral reefs of planet Earth in Komodo National Park, slowly uncovering the beauty of Indonesia, flying to Malaysia, and soon after visiting vibrant wealthy Singapore.

From some of the poorest Asian countries to the wealthiest places, it was an eye-opening journey. November brought the Yi Peng festival in North Thailand, prompting for a south-to-north Thailand trip. Two motorbike accidents in a single day led me to witness the most insane fireworks and lantern show ever, with my whole body wrapped in bandages.

With memories of romantic lanterns fresh in mind, headed to Vietnam for more enchanting sights. Traveled north, ending the journey at the Chinese border, cruising on a motorcycle (two accidents apperently didn't stop me) through the stunning Vietnamese Mountains.

What a chaotic yet beautiful ride 2023 has been. Thank you for the unexpected twists and turns. Thank you for all the lessons I learned and people I met. by @laurensvos_

Het leven komt steeds in golven, het is onmogelijk om de getijden te beheersen. In plaats dat deze je onderdompelen en laten verdrinken, kan je ook hierop leren surfen. Geraak in een plaats in je leven waar je de lage tijden even hard kan appreciëren als de hoge tijden.

Wordt terug verliefd op het leven. Het leven is dan ook absoluut geen ponykamp. We zijn nog zo jong en alles is zo onvoorspelbaar. Een jaar geleden dacht ik in een totaal andere positie te zijn dan ik vandaag ben. Je kan het niet sturen.
