Preparations for the Homo Faber - Live Demo

If you’re in Venice next week, do come by!

I’ll be demonstrating how to make a ‘Moonjar’ by layering coloured clay in patterns and shaping it in a plaster mould.

Finally, I show how a luminous glaze pattern is applied. Inspired by Ceralume

Supported by IWC Schaffhausen

22 to 25 September

Commissioned by IWC Schaffhausen, I have designed two Moon Jars which are now on display at the Homo Faber Biennale in Venice. The objects are made from porcelain using the Nerikomi technique and decorated with a luminescent glaze.

To achieve this, I used Ceralume®, IWC’s proprietary luminous ceramic technology. As a result, the vase changes its appearance depending on the lighting conditions: during the day, the colourful surface takes centre stage, whilst in the dark, the inscription ‘Lux Perpetua’ glows blue on the surface.

LAURIN SCHAUB
SUSTAIN – 2024
ALUMINIUM STRUKTUR, PORZELLAN GEFÄSSE, TRANCDUCERS, COMPUTER, 100×100×330CM
FORTLAUFENDE KOMPOSITION

Ansichten der Ausstellung „Resonances of the Transient“.

Laurin Schaub Keramik – Now at OF GOODS

With a broad understanding of ceramic craftsmanship, Laurin Schaub produces products and objects for table culture. He is interested in fundamental craftsmanship as much as in working with digital tools. His objects are handcrafted unique pieces, often conceived in series and grounded in a conceptual approach. In addition to his own projects, he runs the label PUUL – a platform for collaborations with designers and artists. Production takes place in Büren zum Hof.
