The business of art is not a solo activity. We offer news, coaching, networking and connection to opportunities. How can we help?

POSTS STORIES REELS

Every performer takes gigs they don't love, whether it's a favor to a friend, a scheduling nightmare, or just one you're outright dreading. A magician friend taught me a trick for it years ago, and it's become one of my personal rules: set aside a little "spark fuel" from that paycheck, something small enough not to touch your finances but real enough to make a difference. A cake pop. An afternoon at the botanical garden. A good audiobook and a couple of quiet hours. It doesn't need to cost anything, as long as it marks the moment and gets you to the next gig with your enthusiasm intact.

Celebrate summer with us! Come schmooze with the Listers on June 29.

Spring is wrapping up, summer is coming, and we're leaning into that little bit of breathing room. The End-of-Season Schmooze is the send-off we've come to count on — a chance to catch up with familiar faces, close out the season with good conversation (and good food), and head into summer knowing you've reconnected with some good folks.

This is a no-host gathering. Everyone orders and pays for their own food and drinks, so you set your own budget. There’s no agenda, no program, and no expectation beyond showing up as yourself. Come to catch up, meet someone new, or just sit at a table and listen for a while.

Bring business cards or flyers if you have them, ask questions if you’ve got them, and feel free to bring a friend — or family — who’s part of your creative world.

Cost:
No registration fees / You set your food costs

Please plan to order something and tip generously to thank our wonderful hosts for welcoming a lively group on a Monday night.

Online registration is helpful, but not required. Last-minute drop-ins are always welcome.

Take a breath. Grab a slice. We’d love to see you.

The church hiring conversation continues. Post 2 is up on the Singerpreneur blog — this one gets into the real calculus singers are doing, the rates that haven't moved in decades, and why the old arrangement is no longer holding. Link in bio.

Are you currently doing church work? Has that changed in the last few years? by @laurislist

Every singer has said yes to something unpaid and felt great about it. And every singer has said yes to something unpaid and felt like they'd been had. The difference is usually clarity. New post on the Singerpreneur blog — link in bio. by @laurislist

So the Chalamet thing has been memed and clapped back and discussed at length. Here's our final question: what can we learn from how NOT to talk about the arts?
