It has recently come to my attention that NileCorp has been infiltrated by Coalition spies.

To quell any rumors of where my loyalties lie, I’m coming to you directly to share my current (and continuously growing) collection of our Branch Head’s source materials. I’ve so many that they can’t even fit in one photo. And, to top it all off, most all of them are signed by our fearless Branch Head herself, @thechloegong.

And while I have not yet had a chance to personally meet with our illustrious Branch Head, I am beyond thrilled to finally have a meeting later this year after 6 hard, dedicated years of following her work.

My StrangeLoom employee ID card has been renewed and is BACK with a new look to match the second edition of the employee handbook!

Over-the-moon excited to share that despite the unceremonious NileCorp layoffs that occurred last year over a Google Meet, I have been rehired and am returning as part of the Engineering team! I look forward to continue serving an illustrious company on my reinstated contract while pushing forward our mission and agenda in an attempt to make the world a more peaceful and beautiful place. ♾️

Happy In Stormy Weather release day to @authorchelseacurto and to all who celebrate!

Wow. I 100% did not intend to take a seven-month break from posting anything to my main feed (hi), but I’d be remiss to not post about this—the release day of Chelsea’s first official trad-first published book, and I cannot wait to dive into it.

I also can’t wait to go gallivanting around Barnes & Noble and Target later today, leaving behind some very special bookplates for some very lucky readers.

HAPPY PMWOV DAY TO ALL WHO CELEBRATE!

People We Meet On Vacation was the first @emilyhenrywrites book I ever read back in early 2021. And from then on, I was obsessed with her writing. With her characters. With her banter and the little worlds she created. She very quickly became one of my all-time favorite authors, and I’m often spending most of my time actively trying to not reread her books over and over and over again. (Book Lovers and Funny Story, I’m looking at you two specifically.)

For me, it really all started with Poppy and Alex, and I am way too excited to finally see their love story on screen.

And I can’t wait to make my love for this movie everyone’s problem.

“I love you. I’m sorry.” ♾️

I genuinely cannot, in good conscience, say anything about this book for fear of spoiling the whole entire thing. In any case, here are some pretty pictures of a pretty (action-packed? plot-twisty? emotionally devastating?) book.

If there’s one thing @thechloegong is going to do, it’s going to be writing a wild last 100 pages in which she enacts anguish and terror on every character you’ve spent a good amount of time falling in love with, while simultaneously writing a fictional book that reflects our not-so-fictional world way too well. Like. Scarily so.

That’s all I can say for now.

But a final question for Chloe: so….you’re going to put out the second book like right now…right? And everyone is going to be fine since this is YA…RIGHT?!

It’s officially the second week of my employment with NileCorp (aka a part of the Coldwire street team), and what better way to celebrate than by sharing two very true facts and one small fabricated lie—all @thechloegong themed, of course. 1. I’ve introduced two of my friends to Chloe’s books, and both of them met her soon after and before I ever have.

Beyond thrilled and honored to announce that I’ve accepted a position with NileCorp in the IT department! I am so beyond grateful for this incredible opportunity to further NileCorp’s agenda within my IT role, all while working under Branch Head Chloe Gong. I cannot wait to grow in and explore this incredible opportunity alongside my talented and dedicated colleagues. Being a part of the StrangeLoom team is truly such a gift.

In all seriousness, I am so excited to be a part of @thechloegong street team in anticipation of Coldwire’s release on November 4! I’ve been a fan of Chloe’s since late 2020 and, since then, I’ve proclaimed myself as a Chloe Gong fan first and a human second; so really, this is just a more official title for that, and I couldn’t be more excited. Also since then, my Chloe Gong collection has grown an unhealthy/gross/amazing (?) amount. Not to mention, my Coldwire arc has been burning a hole in my back pocket (kindle), and I need to get to it asap.

Big thanks to @thechloegong for putting this together (and for giving me even more of a reason to publicly scream about your books), @theseviolentdelightss for being the most organized Branch Director, and to @kyr.reads for already being the best Department Manager.

“She began to write, and the words felt slow and thick at first. But she fell into a rhythm with Roman, and soon her keys were rising and falling, the accompaniment to his, as if they were creating a metallic song together.” 🪶

For the past two weeks, I was completely sucked into the world that is the Letters of Enchantment series by @beccajross: Divine Rivals and Ruthless Vows. These books were genuinely so easy to love.

The magic, the world building, the high stakes of it all, the lyrical writing style—it was all so, so perfect. Roman and Iris (and a million other characters) stole my whole entire heart. I could probably gush about Roman and Iris specifically (separately and together) for hours, but I’ll spare you.

This duology is a true magical adventure, and I’m so happy to have finally read it after both books spending years on my TBR.

PS: whoever designed the hardbacks and the designs under the dust jackets—I’m indebted to you and I owe you my life.

PPS: I couldn’t recommend the audiobooks enough.

“This probably wasn’t what an astronaut looked like to most people. But she was one, and she was going up into space. So the definition was going to have to change.” 🌌

This book. This. BOOK. Holy moly.

I don’t even know where to start. I have a lot of thoughts but zero words to actually convey them.

This is a stunning novel about love and home and finding your people and finding yourself, even if you’ve hidden yourself away. It’s about space and NASA and the expanse of the universe and how inconsequential humans actually are in the grand scheme of things, but it’s also about how meaningful humans can be to other humans. It’s about women persevering and wildly succeeding in a field dominated by men. Atmosphere is about so many things, and it truly stole my heart.

Within its 332 pages, Atmosphere had me smiling and laughing. It broke my heart and stitched it right back up. This book gave me whiplash and a heart attack all at once because I constantly lived in fear about how it all was going to end. And, to top it all off, this book made me weep. I’m talking absolute ugly crying.

TJR really did it with this one. The way she chose to write this story by dancing back and forth through timelines is pure genius. The writing was deep and meaningful and gorgeous. And Atmosphere may very well be my new favorite book from @tjenkinsreid. It may very well already be the best book I’ve read this year.

Did I finish this book 24 hours ago? Yes. Am I already rereading it? Also yes.

“Love isn’t something you can cup in your hands, and I have to believe that means it’s something that can’t ever be lost.” 🌅

Much like the rest of the reading world, I spent the past week on Little Crescent Island with Alice, Hayden, and Margaret, and I had the best time.

Unsurprising to no one, @emilyhenrywrites has such a way with words and her writing style in Great Big Beautiful Life felt wildly strong—even more so than usual. And that makes it so easy to get swept up into the story.

GBBL is tender, warm, hopeful, and sweet, and it also made me want to ball my eyes out several times over. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to get over Alice’s and Hayden’s arcs—both their growth together and apart—and this book caused me numerous visceral reactions (swipe for the proof, and sorry to those on the receiving end of these messages).

This is a beautiful book about love and the people we love, and the choices we make for both. In a way, it felt like a deep study on the human condition and the things we are willing to do for said people. And as someone with a terrible memory that is plagued with the fear of forgetting key life facts and details about the people I love…oof, those last couple of chapters hit hard.

Also, I’ve said it before, but @justjuliawhelan is unreal and her audiobooks are my very favorites.

tl;dr: Emily Henry released a new book and it made me feel a lot of emotions, but no one is surprised in the slightest.

Well. It’s been a solid hour since I finished Oathbound and to preemptively answer your question: no, I’m not doing well.

I have so many thoughts, but my head is also incredibly empty. If I tried to express anything at this point, it would probably look something akin to OSNEJFKDBIDNFK!!!!!!!!!

What I can say though is that @tracydeonn is absolutely unmatched. No one else is doing it like her.

I simultaneously need book 4 immediately but also Tracy can keep it as long as she wants. I don’t need the kind of negativity that book is surely going to inflict upon my mental health.

“Maybe what makes us human is the way we call to each other, and the way we choose to answer.” 🥀

To put it simply, the Little Thieves trilogy by @what_eats_owls is one of the best trilogies I have ever read, and Holy Terrors is the perfect final book.

Margaret Owen is a master of her art, and her writing style remains unmatched. As an English nerd, I annotated so much of this book and for so many reasons. Whether it was a sentence with amazing structure and or whether I was audibly laughing, I probably annotated it. Her writing is clever, and her vocabulary is unreal. It will never seize to amaze me.

With this being the third book in the series, there’s obviously already tension between the characters because of their histories. But it’s a tension that you can almost feel physically. In the interactions between characters, you can feel their histories in their actions, and that’s really really special. And speaking of, since we have spent time with these characters over three books, it allows you to understand them on a deep level and it lets you see how they’ve grown over time. They’re the same people, but they’re not. Spoilers aside, Vanja’s character development in particular was really beautiful and it’ll be something that I’ll think about for a while.

I think what’s special about Holy Terrors in particular though is all of the themes it touches and how well it gets into all of them. From the importance of choices and the different paths you can go down, to forgiving all of the versions of your past self and fighting your inner demons, to wanting something so badly but feeling like you don’t deserve it, to beautiful female friendships—it’s all there.

And while Holy Terrors is a book about so many things, it’s also about people in power and the people that force their way into power and what they choose to do with it. And what a beacon of hope this book can serve as in the world’s current climate.

Like I said, I have a lot of feelings about this book and these characters, and I am going to need everyone under the sun to read this series just so I have an excuse to gab even more about it.
