✍🏼 | Student Success A huge congratulations to @obriensa171 on signing his scholarship with @manutd. Sam has been part of our journey from the very beginning. As a Year 7 student, he featured in the launch video for the ELITE Pathway, and since day one he has embodied everything the programme stands for through his dedication, hard work and commitment. We couldn’t be prouder of everything Sam has achieved, and this scholarship is thoroughly deserved. As he prepares to leave @cheadlehulmehs, we wish him every success for the future. 🏐 | HPNP Now the dust has settled… The National Netball competition is dominated every year by huge sixth forms and independent schools with deep squads and extensive resources, yet our girls stepped onto that stage and proved they belonged at the very top. They didn’t just compete with the best - they beat eight of the nine teams they faced and earned a national bronze medal with performances that turned heads all day long. What makes this achievement almost unbelievable is the context behind it. This Pathway is in it’s very first year; while most schools arrived with squads of 12 senior players aged 17–18, our team travelled with just nine some of which were playing way above their age. Instead of fading as the day went on, they grew stronger - physically, mentally and collectively - showing a level of resilience and togetherness that left coaches and officials genuinely stunned. Very quickly, our squad became the story of the tournament. Staff were approached constantly by people from across the North West and beyond who were blown away by the girls’ maturity, focus and competitive edge. They captured the respect - and the admiration - of everyone watching. This is a huge moment not only for @cheadlehulmehs and @chhssixthform but for the entire @laurustrust. It validates everything we are building through our Sporting Excellence and High Performance pathways. It shows that with world‑class coaching, belief, opportunity and the right culture, state‑school students can outperform some of the most established sporting schools in the country. We are unbelievably proud of these exceptional young people and of the staff who have supported them every step of the way. Their achievement raises our profile nationally, inspires the next generation of athletes across all our schools, and demonstrates exactly what is possible when ambition meets opportunity.
